In today's class, we started off by reviewing the sky events that are upcoming over the next week (up to next class) - May 17 to 23.

May 21 - New Moon Day
May 23 - Venus-Moon-Mars Alignment
Ongoing - Betelgeuse is brightening again...

In 2019, when I first researched the possibility of Betelgeuse going supernova, scientists were saying that it wouldn't affect Earth, if it did. But that isn't what everyone is saying now. In fact, world famous physicist, Michio Kaku, warns that if the radiation and energy from a supernova hits earth, it could strip Earth's ozone layer away, causing our sun to scorch us...
Notably, although we cannot see the exact cause in Bible Prophecy, the depletion of our protective ozone layer is something Bible prophecy indicates may happen, in the Last Days, during the 4th angel's vial being poured out:
- Revelation 16:8 "And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire."
Betelgeuse, according to astronomers, is too far away to harm earth, directly. They are also not certain about when it will explode. It could keep from going supernova for 100,000 years... Or it could go supernova as soon as this year, or soon thereafter... But the fact that the star is changing brightness and shape before our eyes is getting scientists to think a supernova is likely imminent.
