Biblical Astronomy - Session 7 - September 29, 2021

In today's session, we concluded (for now) our segment on Biblical Archaeology which focused on the Egyptian layout and building plan of Joseph, who was called Imhotep in Egypt.

Placing the pyramids in such a way as to create a scale model of the constellation Orion was a way to show honor to God and His Throne. This was something Joseph planned and designed, as the chief architect of Egypt, whose architectural influence (and in other areas as well) continued over 1000 years after his death. No wonder both Isaiah and Jeremiah state that the “wonder” and “monument” to Yahweh is standing in Egypt as a testimony to Him - to this day:

Jeremiah 32:18-20 “Thou shewest loving kindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the Lord of hosts, is His Name, Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for Thine Eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings: Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made Thee a Name, as at this day.”

Isaiah 19:19-20 “In that day shall there be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar (which means a “monument”) at the border thereof to the Lord. And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the Lord because of the oppressors, and He shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and He shall deliver them.”

The Great Pyramid was placed in the exact center of all the land area of the world. Lines drawn through the north-south and east-west axis of the Pyramid equally divide the earth.

The fact that the architect of the Great Pyramid knew where to find the poles of the earth is evidenced by the high degree of accuracy in orienting the structure true north. Modern man’s best effort, the Paris Observatory, is six minutes of a degree off true north. The Great Pyramid is only off three minutes and that after 4200 years, due mainly to subsidence.

UPCOMING HOLY DAYS:

The month of October is the month of the Fall Feasts this year. We know that many Feast-keepers kept the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and the Feast of Tabernacles earlier (in September) this year, but we believe the correct calendar puts the Fall Feasts a month later than many... (For more information on the timing, and to see why our calendar is a month later this year, see the full studies at the bottom of this section).

Feast of Trumpets Weekend: October 7-9 - More Information
(Biblical Astronomy will still meet on Wednesday, October 6, as scheduled)

Day of Atonement Weekend: October 16-17 - More Information

Feast of Tabernacles - Fall Retreat: October 22-30 - More Information

Biblical Astronomy will not meet on the following dates in October:
  • October 20 - this week is our Retreat Prep (no Biblical Astronomy Class due to cooking for the Feast week, sermon writing, etc.)
  • October 27 - this week is our Feast of Tabernacles Retreat (no Biblical Astronomy Class, but you are cordially invited to join us for the meeting broadcasts, during this exciting week - see the Retreat Schedule)
  • November 3 - this week is our needed break, allowing us time to clean, rest, and put things back in order following the camp meeting/retreat (no Biblical Astronomy Class during this time).
Biblical Astronomy Class will resume, following the above listed break, on Wednesday, November 10.

  1. Hi Shauna, Are there known names for the unlabeled stars or are they lost? It was amazing to see how big these stars are. I'd never realized that.

    1. Hi Belinda, unfortunately, I could not find names for all the stars. The ones I could find are shown. But in all my research, so far, it seems that some names are lost. Thankfully, enough is findable and preserved to get a clear picture :-)
