Biblical Astronomy - Session 16- January 12, 2022 - with update on January 19

 QUICK NOTE ABOUT BIBLICAL ASTRONOMY ON JANUARY 19...  ZOOM Class is canceled on this day, due to Shauna being delayed in travel (weather issues caused our last flight to be canceled). Biblical Astronomy is scheduled to resume on Wednesday, January 26. 

In today's session, we studied the 6th star family: Deli and its decans. This star family bears the message of the Outpouring of the Holy Spirit, upon which, as Scripture tells, out of our bellies (innermost beings) will flow rivers of Living Water. This is the picture and meaning of Deli. 

We nearly finished our current set of worksheets. So, I'll be sending an e-mail with the next set of worksheets, which we can expect to start on next Wednesday.

Biblical Astronomy - Session 12 - December 1, 2021

In today's session, we began a study of star families three through six. We are accelerating our study of the constellations, in order to switch gears and begin looking at future sky events and understanding their prophetic significance. 

Today we focused on Aqrab (the scorpion of the third Star Family) and its decans. This is the star family of Spiritual Warfare, which depicts Genesis 3:15 in the Heavens.

More About Ruach (Cygnus)

Highlight on the Swan

Ruach (Cygnus), the beautiful swan constellation which bears the sign of the Tav (the Cross) and signifies the Holy Spirit is a decan of Deli. This well-known constellation merits closer inspection, for it contains many heavenly treasures. So, for today's blog, I will turn the highlight back on the heavenly swan to showcase a few more of its wonders.

Ruach (Cygnus) has 10 stars with known planets. It contains two Messier objects: Messier 29 (NGC 6913) and Messier 39 (NGC 7092). The brightest star in this constellation is Deneb, Alpha Cygni, which is also the 19th brightest star in the sky. Finally, there are two meteor showers associated with this constellation: the October Cygnids (Lambda Cygnids) and the Kappa Cygnids which peaks in August.

With all this going on in the swan constellation, it truly appears that Yahweh wants us to notice Ruach and focus on His Heavenly Message in it. Additionally, the heavenly swan bears the sign of the Tav in the summer sky. Thus, it is fitting that Cygnus (Ruach) is one of the most familiar and recognizable constellations in the summer sky.

Deep Space Objects in Cygnus (Ruach)

The Fireworks Galaxy

Ruach (Cygnus), the beautiful swan constellation which bears the sign of the Tav (the Cross) and signifies the Holy Spirit is a decan of Deli. Within this important constellation lie many stellar treasures. One of these is NGC 6946, also known as the Fireworks Galaxy.

This gorgeous galaxy is well-appreciated from Earth's viewpoint as we can see it face-on from here. It is located 22.5 million light years from us and is 20,000 light years across. This means that this galaxy is about 1/3 the size of our own Milky Way Galaxy. It is a volatile galaxy, for in the past century, ten super nova have been observed exploding in the spiral arms of the Fireworks Galaxy.

Going Deeper in Deli

TRAPPIST-1

As you will know by now if you have been following my blog, my featured star-family for the month of June is Deli (Aquarius), the Water Carrier, and its decans.

In today's blog, we're going to dial in our view of Deli as we go a bit deeper to some of the wonders to be found in this beautiful and meaningful constellation. Deli hosts the star known as TRAPPIST-1. TRAPPIST-1 is actually pretty close to Earth, being only 40 light-years from us.

TRAPPIST-1 is small compared to our own sun. In fact, it is only about 8% as large as our sun, and is nearly the same size as our planet Jupiter. In 2017, astronomers announced that TRAPPIST-1 is orbited by at least 7 exoplanets, all of which are similar to Earth in size.

All seven planets discovered in orbit around the red dwarf TRAPPIST-1 could easily fit inside the orbit of Mercury, the innermost planet of our solar system. To give a proportionate comparison to TRAPPIST-1's system and our own solar system, consider the image below:

The 7 exoplanets orbiting TRAPPIST-1 were first discovered using Chile's Transiting Planets and Planetesimals Small Telescope (TRAPPIST), in 2010. And it is from this telescope acronym that this star has been named.

Deep Space Objects in Deli

The Sabbath Day Nebula

As I explained in my January 18, 2019 blog titled, "The Original Seven Parts of our Solar System", the ancient Hebrew name for Saturn was Sabbatai, meaning "Sabbath Day." Notably, one of the deep space objects in Deli is called the Saturn Nebula (NGC 7009). But since the original name for Saturn was Sabbatai, is not the name of this nebula Sabbatai Nebula, meaning "the Sabbath Day Nebula"? 

In modern times, it is thought that William Parsons, the 3rd Earl of Rosse, first observed this beautiful nebula in the 19th century. The Saturn Nebula (Sabbatai Nebula) is a typical planetary nebula. Most investigators believe that the green tint of the nebula is caused by the energetic UV light which is emitted by its central star (Nu Aquarii).

Considering the name of this nebula, it makes its placement in the Deli star family especially interesting...  Does the Sabbath Day have anything to do with the final Gospel Message - represented as the Heavenly Water being poured out by this exalted Waterman? Yes! Consider the Everlasting Gospel reference to Sabbath, found in Revelation:

Revelation 14:6-7  "And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters."

To see the Sabbath connection, consider the elements of the Everlasting Gospel found in Revelation 14:6-7, which are:

1) Fear God - the term "fear God" is an action word. It is something we are supposed to do. But what are we being invited to do here? Are we supposed to be terrified? Actually the term "fear God" means that we are to love Him and obey Him by keeping His Commandments and Statutes.

Deuteronomy 10:12-13  "And now, Israel, what doth Yahweh thy God require of thee, but to fear Yahweh thy God, to walk in all His Ways, and to love Him, and to serve Yahweh thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the Commandments of Yahweh, and His Statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

The Commandments and Statutes of Yahweh are found in His Torah - His Law. Thus, fearing God involves keeping His Law - by His Grace.

2) Give Glory to Him - the second element of the Everlasting Gospel, which Revelation foretells will be carried to the world at the End of Time is a call to glorify God. Matthew 5:16 tells us that we glorify God by our "good works". Since the works which Heaven considers to be "good" are obedient to Yahweh and His Law, we find yet another clear connection with the Gospel and a call to obedience of Yahweh's Law.

3) the Hour of His Judgment is Come - the third element of the Everlasting Gospel, which Revelation foretells will be carried to the world at the End of Time is a warning that Heavenly Judgment is soon coming upon mankind. This is yet another reference to the Law of God. For the standard of measurement by which we will be Judged is the Law of Yahweh (Romans 2:12-13).

4) Worship Him as Creator - the way to honor and worship Yahweh as our Creator is to remember and keep the Sabbath - which is the Day memorializing His Creation:

Exodus 20:8-11  "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of Yahweh thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yahweh blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it."

Clearly then, the Sabbatai Nebula is well placed being within the constellation family which foretells the final Gospel Message going forth after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit!

Deli's Stars

The Brightest Star of Deli

Deli (Aquarius) is the 10th largest constellation in the night sky. Of the 12 primary constellations, it is second in size only to Bethulah (Virgo).

The brightest star in Deli is Sa'ad al Sund, which means "Who goeth and returneth" (Yahshua is the One Who went to Heaven and promised to return in like manner as He went - Acts 1:11) and "the pourer out". Yahshua said that when He went to Heaven again He would pour out His Spirit upon His people. The Message of this star is found in John chapter 16:

John 16:7-13  "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come."

Sa'ad al Sund is a yellow supergiant. It is located 540 light years from Earth.

Tribe of the Month

Reuben is the Tribe Associated with Deli (the heavenly Waterman)

My featured star-family for the month of June is Deli (Aquarius, the Pourer of Water), which is Star-family #6 of the 12 primary constellations and their decans. As I mentioned in my January 11, 2019 blog, "What is the Significance of the 12 Primary Constellations?", each of the 12 primary constellations is associated with one of the 12 tribes of Israel.

The tribe which is associated with the constellation Deli (now called Aquarius) is Reuben.

We will deepen our understanding of the Heavenly Message in this star-family by looking at the prophecies of Reuben, given in the Scripture by both Jacob and Moses.

When Jacob was near the end of his life, he called his sons before him and spoke a prophetic word over them, which is found in Genesis chapter 49. His death-bed prophecies for his sons were not just prophetic words to the 12 tribes while his twelve sons were still alive, the prophecies were to have an ultimate fulfillment in the Last Days. We know this, because Jacob said so himself, in verse 1 of that chapter:

Genesis 49:1  "And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the Last Days."

So, as we find a message for our personal sanctification and spiritual growth in the 12 star-families of the Mazzaroth, that message is deepened by echoing it with the tribal prophecies of Jacob, which are meant for Israel in the Last Days - Scripturally called the "Seed of Abraham" (for Abraham begat Isaac and Isaac begat Jacob and Jacob begat 12 sons who formed the 12 tribes of Israel). 

In Jacob's prophecy from Genesis 49, his prophetic word for Reuben is found in Genesis 49:20:

Genesis 49:3-4 "Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power. Unstable (frothing forth) as water, thou shalt not excel..." 

To understand this prophecy, let's begin by looking at the meaning of Reuben's name. "Reuben" means to "see the son", as we find in Strong's Concordance # H7205. 

This was indeed a prophecy. For the saved people of Yahweh are to receive the Heavenly Water (of the Holy Spirit), which gushes upon the first fruits at Pentecost. With this divine empowerment, they will go forth to the world uplifting the Saviour to the unsaved and helping the lost to "SEE the Son" - thereby finding Salvation:

John 12:32 "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me."

This message is portrayed in the exalted Waterman of Deli and its decans, which is Reuben's constellation. God's people uphold Yahshua's Sacrifice on Calvary, the message contained in the Hebrew letter Tav, and borne in the shape of the Ruach constellation (Cygnus).

Bearing this in mind, let's look at Jacob's prophecy of Reuben from Genesis 49. We read it above, but this time, I will add in the meanings of the key words which are found in the Strong's Concordance. These meanings are in parenthesis in the following verse:

Genesis 49:3-4 "Reuben (see the Son), thou art my firstborn (chief), my might (powerful force), and the beginning (firstfruits) of my strength, the excellency (remnant) of dignity (what was elevated), and the excellency of power (strong, vehement). Unstable (frothing forth) as water, thou shalt not excel..." 

The prophecy of Jacob over Reuben is especially targeting the 144,000 of the Last Days. These are the Firstfruits, foreshadowed by Reuben's prophecy. 

Revelation 14:3-5  "And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth... These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the Throne of God." 

Additionally, it is the 144,000 who will first be empowered by the Holy Spirit, causing the Water of Life to froth forth upon the whole world. But their claim upon Salvation in Messiah is not exclusive. There will be fruit from their efforts. The work of the First Fruits brings in the rest of the harvest. And the amount of grain in the First Fruits (the grain which ripens first) is relatively small, in comparison with the greater grain quantity brought in as the whole harvest. This is the spiritual meaning of the last part of the phrase (thou shalt not excel). Reuben is not saved alone. Rather, Reuben is the firstfruits which is used of God to bring in the rest of the huge harvest.

The firstfruits are the bearers of the Heavenly Water, offering Salvation to the world. This is seen in this sixth constellation family. For the Waterman does not pour out the Water of Life for nothing. It is consumed by a wonderful fish. And fish - as we have already seen in Scripture and in the sky - symbolize the saved.

The Sixth Star Family - Receiving the Outpouring of the Spirit

As we have seen, the theme of the sixth star family (Deli and its decans) is the final outpouring of the Holy Spirit. 

As I mentioned yesterday, to deepen our understanding of Deli and its decans, we need to understand what it takes to prepare for - and ultimately receive - the final outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Deli - Going Deeper

The Sixth Star Family Foretells of Pentecost

As we have seen, the theme of the sixth star family (Deli and its decans) is the final outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The second decan in this star-family is the Northern Cross, or Cygnus, which was anciently known as Ruach. Ruach means “spirit”. Notably, the Holy Spirit, in Hebrew, is Ruach ha Kodesh. This constellation portrays the Holy Spirit in symbol. 

Ancient Arabian astronomers represented Ruach (Cygnus) as a dove, but the Egyptians and Greeks depicted it as a swan. In my book, Ruach is portrayed as a swan merely because the reference to the Spirit and water is perhaps more strongly supported by the swan, being a water-bird. Additionally, this constellation was said to bear the Cross within it (the Tav). Again the swan form bears the Tav shape within it, as is shown below:

As I mentioned before, I find it interesting that we are studying the constellation constellation of Deli with its decans in June at the time for Pentecost...  Thus, to deepen our understanding of Deli and its decans, we need to understand what it takes to prepare for - and ultimately receive - the final outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The Sixth Star Family - Part 3

Deli's Decans - Pega Sus (Pegasus)

Continuing this star-family theme, the third decan is Pega Sus (which has now been compacted to Pegasus). Pega Sus is the 7th largest constellation. The brightest star in Pega Sus, is an orange super-giant that is around 12 times as massive as our Sun.

In modern star-charts, Pegasus is shown as just a horse head with wings. But the ancient planispheres show Pega Sus as the whole horse with wings. Returning to the ancient portrayal, the constellation of Pega Sus appears as shown below in my book, God's Amazing Star Secret:

Sus, in Hebrew, simply means “horse”, giving us the overall shape of this constellation. The horse is a symbol of God’s Strength (Job 39:19). But why does this horse have wings? Wings show swiftness.

In Hebrew, Pega (translated as “chance” in Eccl. 9:11) means to have Judgment come swiftly, taking someone by surprise. The Bible says Christ will Come as a “thief in the night” (2 Peter 3:10). Swiftness is represented by wings in Bible prophecy (Daniel 7). (See also Psalm 18:10 and Proverbs 23:5.) 

Deepening this point, the star names in Pega Sus point to Messiah’s swift Return, giving the timing for the outpouring of the Spirit and the work of final evangelism. 

In summary, this star-family tells of the final Gospel Call that is given just before Christ Returns (Matthew 24:14).

2 Peter 3:10 “But the Day of Yahweh will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away... and the elements shall melt with fervent heat...” 

Psalm 20:7 “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses (Sus) but we will remember the Name of Yahweh our God.”

Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me... unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Matthew 24:14 “And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the End come.”
