A Deeper Look at Unleavened Bread

Significance of the Lyrids Meteor Shower Occurring in Unleavened Bread

I find it amazing how all of Yahweh's Messages to mankind tie together, almost as if forming a beautiful tapestry of Truth. His Plan Redemption is given in Scripture, in the constellations and star-names, in the tribal ensigns of the 12 tribes of Israel, in the spiritual meaning of the gemstones which represent each of the twelve tribes, in the furniture and ceremonies of the Sanctuary... and the list goes on from there.

Considering all we have discussed about the spiritual meaning of Qesheth (Sagittarius) and its decans, including its annual Lyrids Meteor Shower, it is notable to see the connection with this fourth star-family and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. This connection is obvious, in that the Lyrids Meteor shower is occurring during the Feast of Unleavened Bread, but there is also a connection in the meaning of this constellation family and in the meaning of Unleavened Bread.

Lasting a little over a week, this first holy Appointed Time of the year began with Passover and continues with the Feast of Unleavened Bread, including the day of First Fruits.

God designed these three Feasts (Passover, Unleavened Bread, and First Fruits - all of which take place in connection with one another) to teach us a vital lesson about how we can be made
free from sin. This ties in with the messages of the prior two star-families, also, namely: Mozanaim (Libra) and Aqrab (Scorpio).

The experience of walking with God in perfect harmony with His Will is the first step in becoming the First Fruits unto God. In this sky, the first reference to Christ as the First Fruits, and to His people, who are the second fulfillment of First Fruits, is found in the first constellation: Bethulah. Remember, Bethulah holds a sheaf of First Fruits in her hand.

Called the First Fruits, in the End of Time this special group is also known as the 144,000. Having fully surrendered to the Will of
God, they follow the Lamb’s every example, and stand “without fault” as spiritual “virgins” (a symbol of purity in doctrine and commitment to God) before the throne of Yahweh.

In Scripture, a song of Praise is associated with the First Fruits - the 144,000. In fact, they will sing this song in Heaven - being the only beings with the right to do so, by the Grace of Messiah. This song of Praise, known as the Song of Moses and the Lamb is represented in the sky as Kinnor (Lyra) the harp (or lyre) of praise.

Revelation 14:3-5 - "And they sung as it were a new song before the Throne, and before the four Beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. These are they, which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever He goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the Throne of God."
The physical sequence of the annual Feasts directly parallels the spiritual order in which Christians progress on the path of Life. Through Passover and the Week of Unleavened Bread the
observer experiences forgiveness and cleansing from sin. Having been made clean, one may effectively pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit promised in Pentecost.

Then, in the Day of Trumpets, the spiritually cleansed and Spirit-empowered Christian is ready to join the ranks of God’s

messengers giving the Last Call to the world.
This work is represented as beginning with the white horse and Rider of Revelation 6:1. And it is repeated in this star-family in Qesheth.

Isn't it amazing how God has repeated these beautiful messages and teachings in so many ways?

Messier Objects in the Qesheth Star-Family - Part 3

The Lagoon Nebula

While not as filled with amazing heavenly sights as the Aqrab (scorpion) star-family, the Qesheth star family still have several heavenly treats to dazzle the eye.

Qesheth is home to the beautiful Nebula which modern astronomers have cataloged as Messier 8 (M8) or NGC 6523 - also known as the Lagoon Nebula. The nebula is estimated to be between 4000-6000 light years from Earth and is 110 by 50 light years across. As is often the case, the Lagoon Nebula appears pink in time-exposure color photos, but it looks gray to the eye when you look at it through binoculars or a telescope. The gray appearance is due to human vision having poor color sensitivity at low light levels.

The following in how this nebula appears under infrared:

In Qesheth, the Lagoon Nebula appears about in the arm of the Rider, as shown in the image below:

The arm, in Scripture, is a symbol for power and strength and for the ability to give or take.

A nebula is truly wondrous and beautiful. Named after the Latin word for "cloud", nebulae are massive clouds of dust, hydrogen gas, helium gas and plasma. The oldest written record of any nebulae was recorded by Ptolemy in his Almagast in 150 AD.

In modern astronomy, with increasingly powerful telescopes to aid the eye, we are able to see sights in the heavens which the ancients wouldn't have seen. Objects, which Yahweh placed in His remarkable Mazzaroth tapestry, perhaps for our notice at such a time as this.

Zooming in more closely upon Qesheth's shoulder reveals the wondrous Lagoon Nebula...  Think of it... a lagoon... a deep pool of space "water" shines in Qesheth. The symbology of water from Scripture cannot be lost to us as we consider this nebula and its placement. For the imagery goes right along with the Message of Qesheth - the Gospel bearer. It shines forth as a Heavenly invitation to all, borne by those who carry the Gospel to the whole world:
Revelation 21:6 - "And He said unto me, It is done. I Am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the Water of Life freely."
Revelation 22:1 - "And he shewed me a pure River of Water of Life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb."
Revelation 22:17 - "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the Water of Life freely."

The Lyrid Meteor Shower

Kinnor's (Lyra) Annual, April Meteor Shower

One of the many wonderful things about Qesheth and its decans (the fourth star-family) is the amazing Lyrid Meteor Shower, which takes place every year in April (roughly from April 16 to 25). Remarkably, Kinnor (Lyra) is often putting on its amazing falling star show during the time of Passover and Unleavened Bread!

A fireball meteor falling earthward, courtesy of NASA/George Varros.
This year, the peak of this shower will occur on the night of April 22, in just a few days from now. Notably, April 22 is within the annual Feast of Unleavened Bread, meaning this sky-event will occur during a Heavenly holy appointment time. Sky events which align with the sacred calendar are especially significant, as I have explained previously in this blog.

The peak of this year's Lyrid Meteor Shower will take place just after Passover. Since Passover is the fourteenth day of the Biblical month, counting from the first sliver of the new moon, this Feast always falls at the time of a full moon - (I will discuss that in more detail in tomorrow's blog). This means, of course, that the meteor shower will be a bit less visible due to the brilliant light of the waning gibbous moon.

Of course, tonight is the actual night of the full moon. So, even though the Lyrid Meteor Shower is occurring, it will not be a good night to sight the meteors.

But over the next few nights, I do encourage you to cast your eyes about the sky. You do not need to focus only on the Kinnor (Lyra) constellation to sight meteors that visually begin from there. Meteors can appear anywhere in the sky. But the visual epicenter of this meteor shower is the star Vega (Room, in Hebrew), meaning "to exalt" and "to promote".

And there can be no doubt as to the spiritual Message of this meteor shower, and its placement within the Feast of Unleavened Bread. As we are spiritually called to be free from the "leaven" of sin (which is the theme of the Feast of Unleavened Bread), we are invited to live to our Father's Glory! He is to be exalted and promoted. And self and our will is to fade away. This is the powerful message and calling which the amazing Lyrid Meteor Shower celebrates!

The name of the star (Room) from which this shower visually emanates sums up the message and meaning quite perfectly. It says:
Psalm 18:46 - "Yahweh liveth; and blessed be my Rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted (Room)."

Messier Objects in the Qesheth Star-Family - Part 2

The Trifid Nebula

In addition to the amazing Omega Nebula, which I highlighted in yesterday's blog, Qesheth is also home to the beautiful Trifid Nebula (which modern astronomers have cataloged as Messier 20 or M20). The Trifid Nebula was first discovered in more modern times by Charles Messier, on June 5, 1764. The name "Trifid" means "divided into three lobes". This nebula (shown below) is an unusual combination of an open cluster of stars, an emission nebula, a reflection nebula, and a dark nebula.

First, let's take a moment to define those astronomy terms:
Open Cluster of Stars = is a group of a few thousand stars which are loosely gravitational bound to each other.
Emission Nebula = is a nebula that shines with its own light.
Reflection Nebula = is clouds of interstellar dust which reflects the light of a nearby star, or stars.
Dark Nebula = is a type of interstellar cloud that is so dense that it obscures the light from objects behind it, such as background stars.
The reddish color of the Trifid Nebula is due to the emission (hence the term emission nebula) of light from fluorescent hydrogen gas. The blue reflection nebula in the above image appears blue because starlight is being scattered by interstellar dust particles.

The fact that this nebula appears to have three lobes or sections to it brings to mind the Covenant of Yahweh. In Hebrew, three is the number of Covenant. Consider the following:

  • There were three Patriarchs listed, who were recipients of the Covenant: Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Israel).
  • There are three verses in the priestly blessing in which the Name Yahweh (Yah's holy Covenant Name) appears 3x: Numbers 6:24-26
  • After the Great Flood, Yahweh made a Covenant with Noah and his sons. All of mankind descended from Shem, Ham, and Japheth (Genesis 10:1-32).
  • Abraham was commanded to sacrifice his son after a three-day journey to Mount Moriah (Genesis 22:1-4).
  • There are three braids in challah bread as a sign that in keeping Shabbat and eating the Shabbat bread, we are partakers of the Covenant.
  • There were three sections of the Sanctuary and Temple: Courtyard, Holy Place, Most Holy Place.
  • Yahweh is mentioned three times in the Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4).
Thus, in the three sections of the Trifid Nebula, we see a suggested reminder of Yahweh's Covenant. This is fitting, considering the Message of Redemption which is carried by Qesheth.

Messier Objects in the Qesheth Star-Family - Part 1

The Omega Nebula

While not as filled with amazing heavenly sights as the Aqrab (scorpion) star-family, the Qesheth star family still has several heavenly treats to dazzle the eye.

Qesheth is home to the beautiful Nebula which modern astronomers have cataloged as Messier 17 (M17), also known as the Omega Nebula. The nebula is estimated to be between 5000-6000 light years from Earth and is 15 light years across. This nebula is believed to be one of the largest star-forming regions in the Milky Way Galaxy.

In 1833, English mathematician and astronomer, John Herschel, rendered the first known drawing of this beautiful nebula, describing it as looking like a Greek Omega. Herschel's drawing is shown below:

This fact that this beautiful nebula has come to be associated with the Greek Omega seems very fitting to the Heavenly Message of Qesheth. For Yahshua is the Heavenly Rider, foreshadowed on the white horse of Revelation 6. And one of Yahshua titles is "Alpha and Omega".
Revelation 1:8  "I Am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Sovereign, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty."
Revelation 21:6  "And He said unto me, It is done. I Am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the Fountain of the Water of Life freely."
Revelation 22:13  "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last."

Where is the Fourth Star-Family Found in the Bible?

Qesheth and its Decans (and star names) are found in the Bible!

Along with showing the prophetic significance of this year's heavenly events, in this blog, I will be featuring one of the 12 ancient star-families each month. A star family is the primary constellation and its 3 decans, which were known in the ancient world and which were originally named and shaped by God Himself.

This month, the featured star family is Qesheth. Qesheth, as we have already seen in this blog, represents the white horse and Rider of Revelation 6, going forth to bring the last call of the Gospel to this sin-darkened planet. It may seem that these constellations don't appear in the Bible. But that is only how it looks until you remember the Bible wasn't originally written in English. The original Hebrew star and constellation names are found in the Bible. But to find them, you need to use your Strong's Exhaustive Concordance.

The Strong’s Exhaustive Cordance number for Qesheth is H7198 (“H” stands for Hebrew).
By looking up the Strong's number for Qesheth, we are able to find all the Bible references to this constellation name. H7198 appears in the Bible seventy-five times. This means that this constellation name is mentioned in the Bible 75x.

Here are a couple of places where the name of this fourth primary constellation appears in the Bible: (The constellation name: Qesheth is bold and underlined in the verses below)
Genesis 49:24  "But his bow (Qesheth) abode in strength. And the arms of his hands were made strong by the Hands of the mighty God of Jacob..."
Job 29:20  "My glory was fresh in me, and my bow (Qesheth) was renewed in my hand."
The concept and message of Qesheth also appears in the New Testament in the following reference:

Revelation 6:1-2

The star names from the constellation of Qesheth are also found in the Bible. Here are the places where Qesheth's star names and/or meanings can be found:
  • Kaus Meridianalis (which means "the middle of the bow") - Job 29:20. (This Hebrew reference to "bow" is qesheth, which means is the name of this constellation).
  • Rukbah (the Hebrew star name is Berek, which means "the knee") - Isaiah 45:22-23
The concepts and messages of Qesheth's three decans also appear in the Bible. Here are the places where the decans names and/or meanings appear in Scripture:

Tribe of the Month

Asher is the Tribe Associated with Qesheth (the horse and Rider)

My featured star-family for the month of April is Qesheth (the horse and Rider from Revelation 6), which is Star-family #4 of the 12 primary constellations and their decans. As I mentioned in my January 11, 2019 blog, "What is the Significance of the 12 Primary Constellations?", each of the 12 primary constellations is associated with one of the 12 tribes of Israel.

The tribe which is associated with the constellation Qesheth (now called Sagittarius) is Asher.
We will deepen our understanding of the Heavenly Message in this star-family by looking at the prophecies of Asher, given in the Scripture by both Jacob and Moses.

When Jacob was near the end of his life, he called his sons before him and spoke a prophetic word over them, which is found in Genesis chapter 49. His death-bed prophecies for his sons were not just prophetic words to the 12 tribes while his twelve sons were still alive, the prophecies were to have an ultimate fulfillment in the Last Days. We know this, because Jacob said so himself, in verse 1 of that chapter:
Genesis 49:1  "And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the Last Days."
So, as we find a message for our personal sanctification and spiritual growth in the 12 star-families of the Mazzaroth, that message is deepened by echoing it with the tribal prophecies of Jacob, which are meant for Israel in the Last Days - Scripturally called the "Seed of Abraham" (for Abraham begat Isaac and Isaac begat Jacob and Jacob begat 12 sons who formed the 12 tribes of Israel).

In Jacob's prophecy from Genesis 49, his prophetic word for Asher is found in Genesis 49:20:
Genesis 49:20 "Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties."
To understand this prophecy, let's begin by looking at the meaning of Asher's name. "Asher" means "blessed, triumphant, happy", as we find in Strong's Concordance # H836. When Leah gave birth to Asher, she proclaimed a prophetic utterance over him, although this was probably not her intent. It's found in Genesis 30:13. Seeing she had given birth to a son, she proclaimed that she was "happy" and that the daughters (women who knew her) would declare her "blessed". This was why she called the child "Asher" (happy).

This was indeed a prophecy. For the saved people of Yahweh are blessed to be "triumphant", overcoming this world. The triumph of the saints is two-fold, first having gained the victory (through the Power of Messiah) to overcome the tempter, they are then able to triumph in carrying the final Gospel Message to the world. This message is portrayed in the white horse and Rider (Revelation 6) of Asher's constellation.

1 John 5:2-4  "By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep His Commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His Commandments: and His Commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."
Now, let's look at Jacob's prophecy of Asher from Genesis 49. We read it above, but this time, I will add in the meanings of the key words which are found in the Strong's Concordance. These meanings are in parenthesis in the following verse:
Genesis 49:20 "Out of Asher his bread (food, shewbread, meat) shall be fat (rich, plenteous [filled with Oil]), and he shall yield (distribute, offer, give forth) royal (Yahweh is the King, His family is Royal) dainties (delicacies, delights - [spiritual food])."
The prophecy of Jacob over Asher shows that the people of God are distributors of the Heavenly Shewbread. This connects with Qesheth in that the horse and Rider carry the Gospel to the World. Shewbread immediately brings the Sanctuary to mind, for on the Table of Shewbread, which stood in the Holy Place, 12 loaves (1 for each of the 12 tribes of Israel) of unleavened bread were placed.

Certainly, the Shewbread represents Christ, Who is the Living Bread - the Word that became Flesh and dwelt among us:
John 6:51 - "I am the Living Bread which came down from Heaven: if any man eat of this Bread, he shall live for ever: and the Bread that I will give is My Flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."
John 1:14 - "And the Word was made Flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His Glory, the Glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
In Scripture, the Shewbread represented Christ, the Living Word. It also represented the Word of Scripture. And daily partaking of the Word of Scripture is vital to triumphing and partaking of the Gospel Message. The Bible is our daily Bread - the Shewbread of which we must eat in order to sustain spiritual Life.
Matthew 4:4 - "But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out of the Mouth of God."
What does this have to do with the message of the the horse and Rider in this constellation? The message of Qesheth is the final Call of Salvation to this dying planet. We are Called unto Salvation, symbolized by the Crown which the Rider carries and offers to the world.
Revelation 6:2 - "And I saw, and behold a white horse: and He that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto Him: and He went forth conquering, and to conquer."
At the End of Time, the prophet Amos foretold just how desperately the world would need Asher and the Message of this star-family. The one's who distribute the living Bread are the bearers of the final Gospel Message portrayed in Qesheth. And in the Last Days, Amos told that a famine would plague the world - not a famine for literal bread, but rather a famine of hearing the Word of Yahweh. The Asher's who are represented in Qesheth bear the Living Word to the starving world.
Amos 8:11 - "Behold, the days come, saith Yahweh GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the Words of Yahweh."
