Tonight's Dramatic Change in the Goliath Star

Watch Al Gol Triple in Brightness

As I have shared in yesterday's blog, Betelgeuse is dimming. Today, I will show you some dramatic changes in the star Al Gol.

Al Gol - the Goliath star (a term which I will more fully explain in a minute) is a variable star in the constellation Perseus, called Parats in Hebrew. Tonight, if you start viewing Al Gol soon after darkness falls, you will be able to watch it more than triple in brightness (from a starting magnitude of 3.4 to a magnitude of 2.1) over the course of about five hours. Al Gol appears nearly overhead after sunset. It sinks low in the northwest well after midnight.

So why is Al Gol the Goliath star? Let me explain this star name and its meaning in the placement it has in its constellation.

Parats (Perseus) is one of the largest constellations in the Northern Hemisphere. It is well-known for its annual meteor shower which takes place from July 23 to August 13.  Certainly, this meteor shower highlights the Heavenly Father's Message in Parats.

When David fought the giant Goliath (Golyath), he slew him by striking the giant with a stone in the forehead. David then used Goliath's own sword and cut off his head. The constellation of Parats has immortalized this Bible story, shining it out nightly in this constellation. But David and Goliath were only a shadow picture of the deeper message of Parats.

Golyath—the name of this star—is also the Hebrew name of the giant we call “Goliath” in the Bible. Like the heroic Parats in this constellation, David slew the giant Goliath (Golyath) by striking him in the forehead with a stone from his sling. In other words, David killed Goliath by hitting him in the forehead, in the location of the star Golyath.

In this constellation, the giant enemy’s head has been severed and is being held up as a trophy of victory in the hands of Parats. Christ is represented in Parats and Satan is the slain giant whose severed head is in the hands of the Heavenly Judge. This star-picture is showing that our mighty Messiah will conquer Satan in the end.

Suggesting the devil’s impending doom, two comets passed through Ha Satan, conjuncting with the star Al Gol (Golyath). The paths of the two comets visually formed “cross-hairs” through Al Gol. In 1996, the Hyakutake comet passed through the head of Ha Satan, conjuncting Al Gol as shown with the yellow, dotted line running from left to right. This comet is on a 20,000 year+ circuit. One solar year later (to the day), the comet Hale Bopp passed through Al Gol, as shown with the other yellow, dotted line.

The Greeks said the severed head held in the hand of Parats (whom they called Perseus) belonged to Medusa (a demonic “goddess” with serpents for hair). Considering that the true identity of the defeated giant is actually the serpent from Eden—the devil himself—the Greeks weren’t too far off. But we may know that the severed head belongs to the devil because the Hebrew name of the severed head is Ha Satan (Satan), and the Arabic name was Al Ghoul (the evil spirit).

Betelgeuse is Dimming?

Will Betelgeuse go Supernova?

In the Northern Hemisphere, if you go out to look at the sky after dark tonight, Orion will be shining brightly in the southeast. But, if you've been watching Orion for the past several years, you may notice that it doesn't quite look the same...

Beginning in October of 2019, about the time of Sukkot, astronomers noticed that the brightness of Betelgeuse had suddenly begun to change. Formerly one of the top 10 brightest stars in the sky, the brightness of Betelgeuse had fallen to 21st place by the end of December, 2019!

Betelgeuse is the brightest star in Orion. It's Hebrew name is Bo Tsemach, meaning "the Coming Branch". Since "the Branch" is a Scriptural and Heavenly title of our Saviour, we see the promise of the King's Return in this amazing star.

Betelgeuse is located in the right shoulder of Orion. See the photo of Orion below (Betelgeuse is the orange star on the upper left hand side of the image. (Since Orion is facing us, his right shoulder is on our left.)

Betelgeuse is one of the largest known stars. It is 700 times the size of our Sun. In fact, if our Sun were as massive as Betelgeuse, it's surface would extend all the way out to the orbit of Jupiter!

In spite of its massive size, Betelgeuse has a cooler surface temperature than our Sun. The low surface temperature (6000 F compared to our Sun's 10,000 F) of Betelgeuse causes it to appear orange-red in color.

Betelgeuse: Hebrew name: Bo Tsemach (Strong's Concordance numbers H935 and H6780), means "Branch who comes" or "coming" "Branch", which is a reference to Yahshua's Return:
Jeremiah 23:5  "Behold, the days come, saith Yahweh, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth."
As Betelgeuse is part of the Orion constellation, understanding the spiritual meaning of this star involves understanding the Creator's Message in Orion (Kesiyl) as a whole. For a deeper understanding, revisit my blog posting on Orion. You may also find information about the Orion constellation in my book, God's Amazing Star Secret).

So what is causing Betelgeuse to dim? Scientists are scrambling to figure it out. It could be that Betelgeuse is merely dimming because it has long been known to be a variable star. Perhaps it has dimmed and will reclaim its former glory as time goes on. Some astronomers believe that Betelgeuse's dimness is a sign that it is dying out and that we will soon see it go supernova.

If it indeed it does "go" supernova, it will be a notable heavenly sign, but it will not effect the Earth today. This is because the light from Betelgeuse takes 642 years to reach the Earth. Thus, if we view the supernova tomorrow, it actually took place 642 years ago.

But, of course, the heavens are God's great Clock. And He is well-able to plan and put a heavenly sign in motion 642 years before it is needed! The heavenly sign of dimming Betelgeuse - Bo Tsemach - is a Messianic sign.

As we have seen, the Hebrew name for this star (Bo Tsemach) means that the Branch is coming. The Branch is Messiah. But the world is preparing to receive a false Messiah, rejecting Christ the true Messiah. Soon the false Messiah, known as the Anti-Christ, will reign from what should be God's Temple in Jerusalem.

As we come closer to the arrival and reign of the false Messiah, the light of the star representing the true Messiah is dimming! Perhaps it will even disappear entirely from view in a spectacular supernova! And in the dimming, we find a warning for all who will look up and see. The Light of Truth about the true Messiah is being eclipsed...

Let's make sure that the Light of the true Bo Tsemach is shining brightly in our hearts, even as it becomes dimmed upon this Earth.

The 25 Brightest Stars in the Sky - Part 13

Acrux - the Cross Star

Can you name the brightest stars in the night sky? They have names and meanings so old that they go back to the time before the beginning of written language. The 25 brightest stars in the sky are (shown with their current names):

But what were their original names? What constellations are they part of? And what do their names mean? In this blog, I have been doing a mini-series on the 25 brightest stars in the sky. Today, our featured star is Acrux, which is the 13th brightest star.

Acrux, also known as "a Crucis" is a multiple star system that is 321 light-years from the Sun. It is located in the Crux constellation (shown below), which is visible in the Southern Hemisphere.

Acrux did not have an ancient Hebrew star name, as far as I can find (although it may have and the name was just lost through time). But it is the lower star in the four stars of the Southern Cross (Adom, in Hebrew).

This is a star with tremendous spiritual meaning. It's meaning is found in the overall constellation which it draws our eyes to behold - Adom, the Southern Cross.

As I explained in the second star-family (this past February) the second decan of Mozanaim is Adom, now called Crux or the Cross. This
constellation is in the shape of the Hebrew letter tav (the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet), which appears much like a cross in paleo Hebraic. The tav is the letter of God’s Covenant, “finishing” Redemption.  Significantly, when Yahshua died (on the shape of a tav), He said, “It is finished.”

Here are are few fun facts about Acrux:

1) While Acrux appears as a single star to the naked eye, it is actually made up of six components.

2) Acrux is the southernmost first-magnitude star. It is only visible south of latitude 27 degrees North. This means that it barely rises from places like Miami, Florida or Karachi, Pakistan. It is not ever viewable from New Orleans, Louisiana or Cairo, Egypt.

3) This star was visible to the ancient astronomers in India. They named it Tri-shanku.

The 25 Brightest Stars in the Sky - Part 12

Altair - "the Wounding" (unto Death)

On July 10, 2019, I began doing this mini-series show-casing the 25 brightest stars in the sky. If you'd like to be reminded of the full 25-star list, please revisit that blog. Today, we're counting up to the 12th brightest star, which is now called Altair (or Al Tair). It is located in the right wing of Nesher (the wounded eagle constellation which is now called Aquila).

Altair: Hebrew name: Chalal (Strong's Concordance number H2491), means "the wounding", "pierced", "killed". This is a reference to Yahshua's Death. Notably also, Chalal (this star name) refers to something which is "profane".

For example, in Leviticus 21:14, Yahweh's priests were forbidden from marrying a "profane" (chalal) woman-a prostitute. Why is the meaning of chalal so diverse as to include "profane" and "slain"? A profane woman is one who is spiritually worthy of death, which explains the association of "profane" with "killed" in this Hebrew word meaning.

Considering that Chalal refers to someone being profane, as well as wounded and pierced (to the point of death), it may seem strange to associate this star with Yahshua. But remember that Yahshua, Who knew no sin, became sin for us. We were the whore (the unfaithful bride of Christ) who was profane and worthy of death. He took our profane sin upon Himself.
"Christ was treated as we deserve that we mayb e treated as He deserves. He was condemned for our sins, in which He had no share, that we might be justified by His Righteousness, in which we had no share. He suffered the death which was ours, that we might receive the Life, which was His. By His stripes, we are healed." (Desire of Ages).

In Psalm 69:26, we see a direct reference to Yahshua being Chalal. The Bible tells us that Yahshua was "smitten" by Yahweh for our sins, making this Psalms reference clear:
Psalm 69:26  "For they persecute Him (Yahshua) whom Thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom Thou hast wounded (Chalal)."
There are 94 references to this star name in the Bible (but they are all translated into the English meaning of Chalal). Here is an additional verse which contain this star name (Chalal):
2 Samuel 1:19  "The beauty of Israel is slain (Chalal) upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen!"
More meaning may be found in this star by studying the spiritual message of the constellation in which it is found. Chalal (Altair) is a star within the Nesher (mortally wounded eagle) constellation. I explained the spiritual meaning of this constellation in my May 4, 2019 star blog.

Here are are few fun facts about Chalal (Altair):

1) Altair is 16.7 light-years from our Sun and is one of closest stars, which is visible to the naked eye.

2) Altair forms one of the vertices of the Summer Triangle asterism, as is shown in the following diagram:

3) Altair is rotating rapidly (It rotates at 286 km/s at its equator.). This rapid rotation has caused this star to be flattened at the poles (as has been confirmed by the Palomar Testbed Interferometer).

4) This star is now called Alpha Aquilae, but has been called Altair since medieval times. Altair is shortened from the Arabic phrase an nasr at tair, which means "the flying eagle".

The 25 Brightest Stars in the Sky - Part 11

Hadar (Beta Centauri) - "to glorify" (Yahweh)

Hadar, also known as Beta Centauri, is the eleventh brightest star in the sky. It is located in the front paw of Centaurus (anciently known as Asham Bazah). It's Hebrew name is Hadar, meaning "to glorify" our King, Yahweh. This is also the official name of the star.

Hadar: Hebrew name: Hadar (Strong's Concordance number H1922), means "to glorify" and "to honor", which is a reference to us giving glory to Yahweh. This star name, Hadar, is found in the following three verses of the Bible:
Daniel 4:34  "And at the end of the days, I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured (Hadar) Him that liveth for ever, Whose Dominion is an everlasting Dominion, and His Kingdom is from generation to generation."
Daniel 4:37  "Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honour (Hadar) the King of Heaven, all whose Works are truth, and His Ways judgment: and those that walk in pride He is able to abase."
Daniel 5:23  "But hast lifted up thyself against the Sovereign of Heaven; and they have brought the vessels of His House before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose Hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified (Hadar).
The Creator's Message in this 11th brightest star is clear (11, in Hebrew, is the number of judgment, by the way). Those who are created should wisely and righteously glorify their Creator - not themselves.
King Nebuchadnezzar (of ancient Babylon) had a problem with pride. He forgot that, as a created being, all of his ability, intelligence, even his very breath was all a gift from the Creator of all. One day the king proudly stood overlooking his kingdom. He saw its might, its hanging gardens, its cutting edge architecture, its glistening roadways, its beauty, its prospering people...

Babylon was a wonder of the ancient world, represented in the golden head of the image in Daniel chapter 2. But instead of humbly thanking Yahweh for all He had enabled Nebuchadnezzar to accomplish, the proud king boastfully took all the credit to himself, saying, "Is not this great Babylon that I have built?"

As a result, Yahweh sent Daniel to Nebuchadnezzar with a judgment message. Because of his foolish pride, Yahweh (Who had given the king his intellect and ability to rule) would remove the king's intellect from him. For seven years, the prideful king would be a blithering idiot. He would live as a wild creature eating grass in the field. His ability to reign and even think like a man would be completely gone.

When the seven years of humbling judgment were finished, Yahweh returned Nebuchadnezzar's senses to him. His mind and breath had always been a gift from God. But now, Nebuchadnezzar was finally wise enough to recognize it! Daniel 4:34 and 37 are the king's response (see above). Now, he gave God Hadar - the name of this star. For Yahweh is worthy of honor and glory. And all that we are and are able to do is because of Him. Thus, in Hadar, we see a call to true wisdom. Let us always remember Who is the true Star! Yahweh! Let us give Him honor and glory with every breath!

As Hadar is part of the Asham Bazah (Centaurus) constellation, understanding the spiritual meaning of this star involves understanding the Creator's Message in Centaurus (Asham Bazah) as a whole. I explained the spiritual message and significance of this constellation in my January 15 star blog. You may also find information about the Asham Bazah constellation in my book, God's Amazing Star Secret).

Here are are few fun facts about Hadar:

1) Hadar is part of a triple star system.

2) It is well known in the Southern Hemisphere as the inner of the two "Pointers", which point to the Southern Cross. A visual line is made from Alpha Centauri, through Hadar (Beta Centauri) to find the star at the end of the Southern Cross, as shown below:

3) Sadly, neither Alpha Centauri nor Hadar (Beta Centauri) can be seen in the U.S., except very briefly from South Texas, parts of Florida and Hawaii. But it is very prominent in the Southern Hemisphere. Hadar appears bluish and bright (magnitude .61).

As Betelgeuse is part of the Orion constellation, understanding the spiritual meaning of this star involves understanding the Creator's Message in Orion (Kesiyl) as a whole. I will be addressing this star-family in great detail in this blog in a few months. You may also find information about the Orion constellation in my book, God's Amazing Star Secret).

Here are are few fun facts about Betelgeuse:

1) At near infrared wavelengths, Betelgeuse is the brightest star in the night sky. The following is a picture of Betelgeuse, taken with infrared to show its infrared brilliance:

2) Betelgeuse is from the Arabic word bat al jawza, which means "the giant's shoulder".

3) Betelgeuse is also called Alpha Orionis.

The 25 Brightest Stars in the Sky - Part 9

Achernar - the "Fiery Stream"

Achernar is the 9th brightest star in the sky. It is found in the constellation of Eridanus, anciently known as Esh Halak (meaning "fire flowing forth"), which is a decan of the ninth star-family - the star-family of Judgment.
Achernar bears the astronomy distinction of being the "flattest" star known to us. It's odd shape is caused by the star's rapid rotation. But I'll explain more about that in the fun facts at the end of today's blog.

Achernar: Hebrew name: Nur Nehar (Strong's Concordance numbers H5135 and H5103), means "fiery stream", which is a reference to the Judgment prophecy found in Daniel 7:10:
Daniel 7:9-10  "I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of Days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the Hair of His Head like the pure wool: His Throne was like the fiery flame, and His Wheels as burning fire.
A fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him... the Judgment was set, and the Books were opened."
As Achernar is part of the Eridanus constellation, understanding the spiritual meaning of this star involves understanding the Creator's Message in Eridanus (Esh Halak) as a whole. I will be addressing this star-family in great detail in this blog in a few months. You may also find information about the Esh Halak constellation in my book, God's Amazing Star Secret).

The theme of the star-family of Re'eym (the Bull, now called Taurus) and its decans (9th star-family) is the Second Coming of Christ, and the Seven Last Plagues. The second decan of Re’eym is Esh Halak, which is now called Eridanus. In this star-picture we find a great river, which is
flowing from the foot of Keisyl (Orion). But it is not a river of water, as many suppose. Esh
Halak is a river of Fire. Even the modern name of this constellation indicates the Judgment of God. Eridanus means “the River of Judgment”.

This devouring river is described by the prophet Daniel as flowing forth when Almighty God comes to Earth:
“I beheld till the thrones were set, and the Ancient of Days did sit: His Throne was like the fiery flame, and His wheels as burning fire. A fiery stream (a river of fire) issued and came forth from before Him.” Daniel 7:9-10
Nothing can stand before the devouring Fire of the Almighty on that day.
Isaiah 30:27-33 - “…His Breath as an overflowing stream (of fire)… He hath made it deep and large, the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the Breath of Yahweh, like a stream of brimstone doth kindle it.”
Scripture corroborates the heavenly picture of a consuming fire, at Christ’s Second Coming. The Bible tells us that the wicked will be destroyed by the “brightness” of His Coming, which is also called God’s “Glory” (2 Thessalonians 2:8). But in Hebrews 12:29, we find that the Glory of God isn’t only a dazzling brightness, it is also a “consuming Fire”.

The prophet Malachi also foretold that the Fire of God’s Glory would destroy the wicked in that Day.
Malachi 4:1-3 “For, behold, the Day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the Day that cometh shall burn them up, saith Yahweh of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch... And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the Day that I shall do this, saith Yahweh of hosts.”

At first it is a bit confusing to find the prophecy of Judgment Fire so early in the star-story. The devil is not slain here in the Re’eym star-family. The devil is rendered powerless here, but his ultimate and final end is foretold in the Aryeh (now called Leo, the lion) constellation family, which is three star-families later.

So, why is there Fire in the star-family which foretells the Second Coming of Christ? Are the wicked to be destroyed by the “brightness of His Coming” (which is a consuming Fire) only to be resurrected and then destroyed by Fire again when the devil is put in the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:10), in the time of Aryeh’s fulfillment?

No! God is just and merciful. And every person has only one Judgment Day (Hebrews 9:27). When Christ comes, the Bible—and the stars—show that it will be Judgment Day for all who are alive and see Him come. We know this because the Bible says that He will bring the “Reward” (Eternal Life or Eternal Death) to “every man” (saved or lost) (Revelation 22:12). When a person receives his/her Reward (whether Life or Death), it is eternal.

For this reason, the stars and Scriptures show that those who are Judged (with Life or Death) at the Second Coming have received a permanent
Judgment. But, not everyone receives Judgment at Christ’s Second Coming. All of the saved people receive Eternal Life at the Second
Coming, for even the saved who are dead will be resurrected at that time. All the Saved are Rewarded together (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17).

But, not all of the wicked are Judged at the Second Coming. Only the wicked who are alive
at Christ’s Return are Judged. The “rest” of the wicked who are “dead” are Judged later... in Aryeh, as the Bible says in Revelation 20:5 (see verses 1-4 for context as well).

I will explain more about this when I focus on the ninth star-family. For now, this context of Judgment and brief explanation is sufficient to appreciate the Creator's Message in Achernar. Significantly also, 9 - in Hebrew - is the number of Judgment. And, of course, as has already been pointed out, Achernar is the ninth brightest star in the sky. This fact and ordinal meaning of the number nine is surely by design, in that the Creator is conveying the Message of Divine Judgment even in the number of this star's brightness!

Here are are few fun facts about Achernar:

1) Achernar is a star best seen from the southern hemisphere (and November is the prime viewing month). In the norther hemisphere it never rises above the latitude of Dallas Texas (33 degrees N).

2) Achernar is a bright blue star that is about 7 times the mass of our Sun and is about 3,150 times more luminous (brighter).

3) As I mentioned previously in today's blog, Achernar is the least spherical star in our entire galaxy. It spins so rapidly that it is shaped like an oblate spheroid. The diameter of its equator is 56% greater than its polar diameter. This also causes surface temperature variations on this star. It may be above 20,000 K at the pole, while the equator temp is only 10,000 K.

4) Achernar is a binary star system.
