Moon-Nogah Conjunction

This week, starting tonight, there will be a series of moon-planet conjunctions. A conjunction is when two heavenly bodies appear close together in the sky.

In the southeastern sky, before dawn on January 8, the slender crescent of the waning moon shone just to the upper right of the bright reddish star, Antares, the heart of the Scorpion constellation.

The Scorpion constellation, anciently called Aqrab, is a constellation of Spiritual Warfare. We are called to do battle with the "flesh" which ultimately brings Eternal Death. The Scorpion represents the sting of Eternal Death.

The moon represents the Bride of Christ - final Israel - who are called to cut out the "heart" of "flesh" which yields Eternal Death. As the Moon conjuncts the Scorpion's Heart, we are reminded that the heart of the Scorpion is not to be our hearts. We are called to Shema - "Hear O Israel, Yahweh our El is ONE (first, supreme, solely God). Love Yahweh your Elohim with all your heart and soul and strength." Deut. 6:4-5
