Deeper Insights into the Constellation Adom (shaped like a Hebrew letter tav)
The following insights into the Hebrew letter tav (which is shape of the constellation Adom), are from the book Hebrew Word Pictures by Dr. Frank Seekins, pp 96-99.
Tav is the 22nd letter of the Hebrew Alef-Bet, but it is the letter which signifies the number 400. (Hebrew letters double as numbers also.)
The following insights into the Hebrew letter tav (which is shape of the constellation Adom), are from the book Hebrew Word Pictures by Dr. Frank Seekins, pp 96-99.
The last letter of the Hebrew Alef-Bet is called Tav. The ancient way this letter was drawn agrees with the meaning of the name of the letter. Tav, in ancient Hebrew means a sign. The picture of a sign, in the shape of a cross... can be seen in the ancient symbols for this (Hebrew) character (see top image, above). The Tav is the mark which God places upon the righteous - Ezekiel 9:4 who sigh and cry over all the abominations. Only those with the Tav mark will be saved from Yahweh's coming Judgment:
Scripture uses the word Tav in ways that help us understand the meaning of the letter Tav (and this Tav-shaped constellation.
Ezekiel 9:6 "Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark (Tav); and begin at My Sanctuary..."
Each of the verses in the twenty-second stanza of Psalm 119 starts with the letter Tav (because Tav is the 22nd letter of the Hebrew Alef-Bet). The letter Tav means "a sign" or "the cross" and these eight verses tell us that when we long for God's Salvation, when we have gone astray, it is God alone Who can save us!
... You will notice (when comparing Psalm 119:169-176 in Hebrew - on the right - with its English translation - on the left) that often it takes more than one English word to translate the Hebrew.
Tav is the 22nd letter of the Hebrew Alef-Bet, but it is the letter which signifies the number 400. (Hebrew letters double as numbers also.)
One way to remember that Tav is used for the number 400 is that it was at the end of 400 years when God delivered Israel from bondage (Genesis 15:13)...
...The (Hebrew) pictograph of the sign (Tav) symbolizes:1) ownership2) (to be) finished, whole, complete3) to seal4) to make a Covenant5) to join two things together6) to make a Sign. The symbol of the Cross has been used by many people and cultures around the world. This is because it was a shape well-known in the Constellations, from which also its meaning was known across cultures. Additionally, as I have already shared in this blog, an ancient version of Hebrew is now known to be the oldest written language on earth. Thus, the letter Tav, which is also the shape of the constellation Adom, appears across cultures. Consider the following:
Over 3800 years ago, the Cross was clearly used like the Hebrew letter Tav in the Proto-Sinaitic writing found in the Egyptian Wadi called the Wadi Al Hol (see below).

The Sumerian word mash means "pure" and "holy" and the same symbol in Akkadian stood for "divinity". (Note the Adom-shape / Tav-shape of this Sumerian/Akkadian word in the image below).
The Cross was so commonly known and used that the church often embraced the ancient form of the Cross (Tav) already used in an area. Many have been led to believe that the shape of a Cross is a pagan symbol, since it came to be associated with sun-god. But long before the Cross - Tav was claimed by the sun-worshippers, the Cross shaped Tav was a symbol which honored Yahweh. There are even instances where the Tav shape is found carved near a menorah, demonstrating a clear connection with the Tav and the worship of Yahweh.
The Chinese character shi is written in the form of a cross and means what is complete, perfect or finished. The modern character shi still clearly shows the cross (see below).

Originally, a picture of a Cross was a sign of ownership, a mark of protection, a signature, or the mark of God.Beautifully, all of this symbology and meaning is to be found in the constellation Adom. This constellation may be small and "insignificant" in terms of size and in the number of stars within it. But for all of that, this most humble constellation carries one of the most profound of all the messages in the sky!
