Messier Objects in the Qesheth Star-Family - Part 3

The Lagoon Nebula

While not as filled with amazing heavenly sights as the Aqrab (scorpion) star-family, the Qesheth star family still have several heavenly treats to dazzle the eye.

Qesheth is home to the beautiful Nebula which modern astronomers have cataloged as Messier 8 (M8) or NGC 6523 - also known as the Lagoon Nebula. The nebula is estimated to be between 4000-6000 light years from Earth and is 110 by 50 light years across. As is often the case, the Lagoon Nebula appears pink in time-exposure color photos, but it looks gray to the eye when you look at it through binoculars or a telescope. The gray appearance is due to human vision having poor color sensitivity at low light levels.

The following in how this nebula appears under infrared:

In Qesheth, the Lagoon Nebula appears about in the arm of the Rider, as shown in the image below:

The arm, in Scripture, is a symbol for power and strength and for the ability to give or take.

A nebula is truly wondrous and beautiful. Named after the Latin word for "cloud", nebulae are massive clouds of dust, hydrogen gas, helium gas and plasma. The oldest written record of any nebulae was recorded by Ptolemy in his Almagast in 150 AD.

In modern astronomy, with increasingly powerful telescopes to aid the eye, we are able to see sights in the heavens which the ancients wouldn't have seen. Objects, which Yahweh placed in His remarkable Mazzaroth tapestry, perhaps for our notice at such a time as this.

Zooming in more closely upon Qesheth's shoulder reveals the wondrous Lagoon Nebula...  Think of it... a lagoon... a deep pool of space "water" shines in Qesheth. The symbology of water from Scripture cannot be lost to us as we consider this nebula and its placement. For the imagery goes right along with the Message of Qesheth - the Gospel bearer. It shines forth as a Heavenly invitation to all, borne by those who carry the Gospel to the whole world:
Revelation 21:6 - "And He said unto me, It is done. I Am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the Water of Life freely."
Revelation 22:1 - "And he shewed me a pure River of Water of Life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb."
Revelation 22:17 - "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the Water of Life freely."

  1. Yes. Yah is providing man with abundant evidence to recognize who He is and to come follow Him - especially in these times where His Holy word is rapidly being obscured, His heavens are being more fully revealed. How remarkable!
