Primary Constellation # 8

Taleh (Aries)...

For the month of August, I will showcase the eighth star family. The primary constellation of the eighth star-family is Taleh, which is now called Aries.

Taleh is a mid-sized constellation at 441 square degrees. It contains several stars with sizable planets. For example, Al Hamal (Alpha Arietis) has an orbiting planet with a mass greater than Jupiter. Al Hamal is an orange giant (66 light-years from Earth). The star Al Sheratan (Beta Arietis) is a blue-white star which is 59 light-years away from earth.

One of the most powerful, yet amazingly unassuming of images in the sky is the constellation of Taleh (now called Aries). In this eighth primary constellation, Christ is
depicted as the conqueror, having gained
victory over the dragon. Yet, this great victory is won in the most unexpected of forms: a Lamb that was slain (Revelation 5:12).

It brings to mind the words of the song
Wonderful, Merciful Saviour, which says:

Wonderful, merciful Saviour,Precious Redeemer and Friend;Who would have thought that a Lamb Could rescue the souls of men?
O... You rescue the souls of men!
(Dawn Rodgers and Eric Wyse)
In modern astronomy charts, Aries is portrayed as being a ram with horns. But this is a Greek misrepresentation of this constellation. Taleh is a lamb, having no horns. Dendera and the oldest depictions of this constellation show a lamb, as
pictured here.

Scripture tells us of a great day when “every knee will bow” and every tongue will confess that Christ is the King of kings. Even the devil and his minions will have to bow, on this day (Philippians 2:10). The day, when the universe acknowledges Christ, is portrayed in this sky-picture of Taleh. The lamb that was slain is receiving glory and worship. No longer is He dying, but He is very much alive. In Taleh, the worthy Lamb is glorified!

The name and message of this ancient constellation is found in the Bible, as shown in the following Scripture:
1 Samuel 7:9 And Samuel took a sucking lamb (Taleh) and offered it for a burnt offering wholly unto Yahweh: and Samuel cried unto Yahweh for Israel; and Yahweh heard him.”

    1. Ram can be a male sheep, known as Rambo by many who have sheep because they are very aggressive. What a different picture from a "ram" to an innocent suckling lamb. Thanks Shawna!

    2. Glad you were blessed by this, Randee. Yes, it is amazing when you see that the King is portraying the Worthy Lamb that was slain in the sky! Love those familiar Scripture verses coming to life in starry forms!
