On July 10, 2019, I began doing this mini-series show-casing the 25 brightest stars in the sky. If you'd like to be reminded of the full 25-star list, please revisit that blog. Today, we're counting up to the 12th brightest star, which is now called Altair (or Al Tair). It is located in the right wing of Nesher (the wounded eagle constellation which is now called Aquila).
Altair: Hebrew name: Chalal (Strong's Concordance number H2491), means "the wounding", "pierced", "killed". This is a reference to Yahshua's Death. Notably also, Chalal (this star name) refers to something which is "profane".
For example, in Leviticus 21:14, Yahweh's priests were forbidden from marrying a "profane" (chalal) woman-a prostitute. Why is the meaning of chalal so diverse as to include "profane" and "slain"? A profane woman is one who is spiritually worthy of death, which explains the association of "profane" with "killed" in this Hebrew word meaning.
Considering that Chalal refers to someone being profane, as well as wounded and pierced (to the point of death), it may seem strange to associate this star with Yahshua. But remember that Yahshua, Who knew no sin, became sin for us. We were the whore (the unfaithful bride of Christ) who was profane and worthy of death. He took our profane sin upon Himself.
"Christ was treated as we deserve that we mayb e treated as He deserves. He was condemned for our sins, in which He had no share, that we might be justified by His Righteousness, in which we had no share. He suffered the death which was ours, that we might receive the Life, which was His. By His stripes, we are healed." (Desire of Ages).
In Psalm 69:26, we see a direct reference to Yahshua being Chalal. The Bible tells us that Yahshua was "smitten" by Yahweh for our sins, making this Psalms reference clear:
Psalm 69:26 "For they persecute Him (Yahshua) whom Thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom Thou hast wounded (Chalal)."There are 94 references to this star name in the Bible (but they are all translated into the English meaning of Chalal). Here is an additional verse which contain this star name (Chalal):
2 Samuel 1:19 "The beauty of Israel is slain (Chalal) upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen!"More meaning may be found in this star by studying the spiritual message of the constellation in which it is found. Chalal (Altair) is a star within the Nesher (mortally wounded eagle) constellation. I explained the spiritual meaning of this constellation in my May 4, 2019 star blog.
Here are are few fun facts about Chalal (Altair):
1) Altair is 16.7 light-years from our Sun and is one of closest stars, which is visible to the naked eye.
2) Altair forms one of the vertices of the Summer Triangle asterism, as is shown in the following diagram:
4) This star is now called Alpha Aquilae, but has been called Altair since medieval times. Altair is shortened from the Arabic phrase an nasr at tair, which means "the flying eagle".

Most interesting. I suspect many biblical scholars gloss over verses which are now understood only in the light of star revelations.
