The 25 Brightest Stars in the Sky - Part 9

Achernar - the "Fiery Stream"

Achernar is the 9th brightest star in the sky. It is found in the constellation of Eridanus, anciently known as Esh Halak (meaning "fire flowing forth"), which is a decan of the ninth star-family - the star-family of Judgment.
Achernar bears the astronomy distinction of being the "flattest" star known to us. It's odd shape is caused by the star's rapid rotation. But I'll explain more about that in the fun facts at the end of today's blog.

Achernar: Hebrew name: Nur Nehar (Strong's Concordance numbers H5135 and H5103), means "fiery stream", which is a reference to the Judgment prophecy found in Daniel 7:10
Daniel 7:9-10  "I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of Days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the Hair of His Head like the pure wool: His Throne was like the fiery flame, and His Wheels as burning fire.
A fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him... the Judgment was set, and the Books were opened."
As Achernar is part of the Eridanus constellation, understanding the spiritual meaning of this star involves understanding the Creator's Message in Eridanus (Esh Halak) as a whole. I will be addressing this star-family in great detail in this blog in a few months. You may also find information about the Esh Halak constellation in my book, God's Amazing Star Secret).

The theme of the star-family of Re'eym (the Bull, now called Taurus) and its decans (9th star-family) is the Second Coming of Christ, and the Seven Last Plagues. The second decan of Re’eym is Esh Halak, which is now called Eridanus. In this star-picture we find a great river, which is
flowing from the foot of Keisyl (Orion). But it is not a river of water, as many suppose. Esh
Halak is a river of Fire. Even the modern name of this constellation indicates the Judgment of God. Eridanus means “the River of Judgment”.

This devouring river is described by the prophet Daniel as flowing forth when Almighty God comes to Earth:
“I beheld till the thrones were set, and the Ancient of Days did sit: His Throne was like the fiery flame, and His wheels as burning fire. A fiery stream (a river of fire) issued and came forth from before Him.” Daniel 7:9-10
Nothing can stand before the devouring Fire of the Almighty on that day.
Isaiah 30:27-33“…His Breath as an overflowing stream (of fire)… He hath made it deep and large, the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the Breath of Yahweh, like a stream of brimstone doth kindle it.”
Scripture corroborates the heavenly picture of a consuming fire, at Christ’s Second Coming. The Bible tells us that the wicked will be destroyed by the “brightness” of His Coming, which is also called God’s “Glory” (2 Thessalonians 2:8). But in Hebrews 12:29, we find that the Glory of God isn’t only a dazzling brightness, it is also a “consuming Fire”.

The prophet Malachi also foretold that the Fire of God’s Glory would destroy the wicked in that Day.
Malachi 4:1-3 “For, behold, the Day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the Day that cometh shall burn them up, saith Yahweh of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch... And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the Day that I shall do this, saith Yahweh of hosts.”

At first it is a bit confusing to find the prophecy of Judgment Fire so early in the star-story. The devil is not slain here in the Re’eym star-family. The devil is rendered powerless here, but his ultimate and final end is foretold in the Aryeh (now called Leo, the lion) constellation family, which is three star-families later.

So, why is there Fire in the star-family which foretells the Second Coming of Christ? Are the wicked to be destroyed by the “brightness of His Coming” (which is a consuming Fire) only to be resurrected and then destroyed by Fire again when the devil is put in the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:10), in the time of Aryeh’s fulfillment?

No! God is just and merciful. And every person has only one Judgment Day (Hebrews 9:27). When Christ comes, the Bible—and the stars—show that it will be Judgment Day for all who are alive and see Him come. We know this because the Bible says that He will bring the “Reward” (Eternal Life or Eternal Death) to “every man” (saved or lost) (Revelation 22:12). When a person receives his/her Reward (whether Life or Death), it is eternal.

For this reason, the stars and Scriptures show that those who are Judged (with Life or Death) at the Second Coming have received a permanent
Judgment. But, not everyone receives Judgment at Christ’s Second Coming. All of the saved people receive Eternal Life at the Second
Coming, for even the saved who are dead will be resurrected at that time. All the Saved are Rewarded together (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17).

But, not all of the wicked are Judged at the Second Coming. Only the wicked who are alive
at Christ’s Return are Judged. The “rest” of the wicked who are “dead” are Judged later... in Aryeh, as the Bible says in Revelation 20:5 (see verses 1-4 for context as well).

I will explain more about this when I focus on the ninth star-family. For now, this context of Judgment and brief explanation is sufficient to appreciate the Creator's Message in Achernar. Significantly also, 9 - in Hebrew - is the number of Judgment. And, of course, as has already been pointed out, Achernar is the ninth brightest star in the sky. This fact and ordinal meaning of the number nine is surely by design, in that the Creator is conveying the Message of Divine Judgment even in the number of this star's brightness!

Here are are few fun facts about Achernar:

1) Achernar is a star best seen from the southern hemisphere (and November is the prime viewing month). In the norther hemisphere it never rises above the latitude of Dallas Texas (33 degrees N).

2) Achernar is a bright blue star that is about 7 times the mass of our Sun and is about 3,150 times more luminous (brighter).

3) As I mentioned previously in today's blog, Achernar is the least spherical star in our entire galaxy. It spins so rapidly that it is shaped like an oblate spheroid. The diameter of its equator is 56% greater than its polar diameter. This also causes surface temperature variations on this star. It may be above 20,000 K at the pole, while the equator temp is only 10,000 K.

4) Achernar is a binary star system.
