Lessons on Spiritual Warfare - Part 4

Anointing Your Home to Extend the Blessing

At this point, we are going beyond the direct message of the heavens in this star-family. Yet a study of biblical anointings would be incomplete without the mention of the home anointing.  Once we have surrendered ourselves to God, through the anointing process, it is appropriate to daily submit our “stuff” to Him. The anointing of a person is about forgiveness for past unrighteousness while being set  apart for holy use. This is also the reason for anointing our homes and possessions.

In a Christian home, next to the individuals belonging entirely to the Heavenly Father, there is nothing more   important than the property belonging completely to God and being set apart for holy use as well. Not only are we,    personally, the temple of God; but also our homes are to be established in righteousness as places where the holy angels love to dwell.

In a pre-anointed Christian home, there are likely many objects which have been brought into it from the enemy’s realm. There have likely been activities done in the rooms that are not of God.

All of this unsanctified past is cleansed away through the biblical home anointing process. Thus, we highly recommend that once the family has all been anointed, an important next step is to anoint the home. Simply come together as a family, and under the leadership of the father, perform the sacred anointing service as listed in this chapter.

In Bible times, not only were people anointed, but items that were to be used in God’s service were also anointed. In Exodus 29:36, we see that the altar in the tabernacle was anointed. In addition, the entire tabernacle was anointed with oil.
“And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil. And thou shalt anoint the tabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the ark of the  testimony” Exodus 30:25-26.
Once again, the tabernacle was anointed because it was to be set apart for holy use. The tabernacle, therefore was set apart for holy use by the anointing service. This is the same intent that committed Christians have for their homes. Thus, the anointing of the home becomes a significant part of submitting one’s possessions to the Father for holy use.

Olive oil is the base that is specified for use in an anointing. If only virgin olive oil is available, this will serve the purpose.  However, it must be noted that the biblical oil was more than olive oil alone. Exodus 25:6 tells us that the biblical anointing oil also possessed certain spices.

Exodus 30:23-25 (see also Exodus 30:31-33, 37-38) lists the exact ingredients of biblical anointing oil.
“Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels (a shekel was about 1/3 ounce in weight), and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels, and of cassia (cinnamomum cassia) five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an hin (a hin is about 3 quarts): and thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil.”
This recipe gives very large proportions because this was an amount suited to a large tabernacle’s use.  But, for a batch of anointing oil for the home or individual ministry, it is undesirable to make so much.  There are websites that make biblical anointing oil available in more suitably sized bottles. One such website is Victorie Inc

To perform a home anointing service in the proper biblical manner, begin with prayer dedicating the entire home to the Heavenly Father and to His holy use. State the intent that nothing impure or of the enemy would be left within the home at the end of the anointing service. Thus, the anointing is to be cleansing as well as dedicatory.

Begin at the exterior front door. The father, or head of the home, should place a dot of the oil on the sides and top of the door-jam, like the Israelites did at Passover in Eqypt of old. Seek the Heavenly Father, in prayer as this is done, asking God, from this time on to, claim this door and property as His own—intended to bring glory to His Name.

Ask God to seal out any evil (the oil represents the work of the Holy Spirit and the Blood of the Lamb by faith), and to forgive any acts of sin that have ever been committed in this house or on the grounds, even before the house was there. Reclaim the space and dedicate it to the Heavenly Father for His sacred use.

Ask that it become a place where angels wish to dwell, and where demons fear to tread. This same prayer and series of requests will be repeated in every room throughout the home.
