Where is the Third Star Family Found in the Bible?

Aqrab and its Decans (and star names) are found in the Bible!

Along with showing the prophetic significance of this year's heavenly events, in this blog, I will be featuring one of the 12 ancient star-families each month. A star family is the primary constellation and its 3 decans, which were known in the ancient world and which were originally named and shaped by God Himself.

This month, the featured star family is Aqrab. Aqrab and its three decan constellations, portray the powerful message of practical godliness and spiritual warfare. The original Hebrew star and constellation names are found in the Bible. To find them, you need to use your Strong's Exhaustive Concordance.

The Strong’s Exhaustive Cordance number for Aqrab is H7128 (which is transliterated as "qerab" in Strong's). It is from the root word H7126 ("H" is for Hebrew). The Hebrew word “qarab” appears here.

By looking up the two numbers for Aqrab, (which as we saw above is H7128 and H7126), we are able to find all the Bible references to this constellation name. H7128 appears in the Bible nine times and H7126 appears in the Bible 280 times. This means that this constellation name is mentioned in the Bible 289 times!

Here are a few places where the name of this third primary constellation appears in the Bible: (The constellation name: Aqrab is bold and underlined in the verses below)
Psalm 144:1  "Blessed be Yahweh my strength which teacheth my hands to War (Aqrab), and my fingers to fight."
Job 38:23  "Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of Battle (Aqrab) and War?
Zechariah 14:3  "Then shall Yahweh go forth, and fight against those nations, as when He fought in the day of Battle
(Aqrab)."
The concept and message of Aqrab also appears in many cross reference Scriptures. Here are a couple of references:

Psalm 91:13
2 Corinthians 10:3-5

The star names from the constellation of Aqrab are also found in the Bible. Here are the places where Aqrab's star names and/or meanings can be found:
  • Antares (which means "the wounding" - the Hebrew star name is Chalal - Messiah was wounded for our transgressions) - Isaiah 53:5
  • Graffias (which means "the claws" - the Hebrew star name is Parsah - Claws are a Scriptural symbol for something which is used to attack and destroy) - Zechariah 11:16
  • Lesath (which means "the perverse" or "perversity" - which brings death) - The concept is found in Romans 6:23 & the actual star name (Hebrew star name is Iqqaysh) is found in Deuteronomy 32:5
* The New Testament is translated from Greek, not Hebrew. Thus, New Testament references are showing the concept or Greek equivalent to the original Hebrew star-name.

The concepts and messages of Aqrab's three decans also appear in the Bible. Here are the places where the decans names and/or meanings appear in Scripture:

Gibbor (now called Ophiuchus - the Strong Man, Who is Christ) - This constellation shows Yahshua's mighty power in defeating the devil:

  • Jeremiah 20:11 - Yahweh is "mighty" - against Him no enemy can prevail.
  • Psalm 112:2 - Because of God's power in His people, the saved are also called "mighty".
  • Isaiah 9:6 - One of Yahshua's titles is "the mighty God" (Gibbor), making the identity of this constellation's Strong Man very clear.

Nachash (now called Serpens, the serpent from the Garden of Eden, who is none other than Satan himself - Revelation 12:9) - This constellation shows the enemy of souls and his ongoing attack against every soul. But it also shows that in Christ, the devil is powerless and defeated.
  • Genesis 3:1 - the serpent in Eden was Nachash, in Hebrew.
  • Genesis 3:14-15 - the first Scriptural mention of the Plan of Redemption is in these verses, which are represented in the sky in the decans of Aqrab.

Bau (now called Hercules, "Who cometh" to destroy the works of the devil) - This constellation represents Yahshua who empowers us to overcome the works of the flesh - the fruits of Satan - in our characters.

For the star-names and Scripture references for Bau, see the following diagram from my book:

  1. Detailed study! I am just in the stage of gaining concepts which are new to me.
The Bible quotes featuring Aqrab are hard to read with the black on white.
