The Seed of the Serpent

NGC 6231 Cluster

Did you know that the serpent has "seed"? The first mention of the Plan of Redemption, in Scripture is found in Genesis 3:15, where we read:

Genesis 3:15 - "And I will put enmity between thee (the serpent) and the woman (a symbol of God's saved people), and between thy seed (the seed of the serpent) and her seed (the seed of the saved people of God); it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."

In the southern part of the constellation Aqrab (the scorpion, which represents Eternal Death, resulting from sin) lies the NGC 6231 Cluster. The following picture shows a close-up of this cluster in a photo taken with Chandra. It is an x-ray image which helped astronomers distinguish the individual stars in this cluster.

From ancient times, the NGC 6231 Cluster has represented the "seed of the serpent". Before we can understand the "seed of the serpent", let us first look at the "seed of the righteous". In Genesis 3:15, the "Seed" of the woman is foretold to bruise the serpent's head, which is a death-blow to the devil-snake. As I mentioned previously in this blog, the "Seed" of the woman who crushes the serpent's head (the devil is the serpent) is Christ. 

But while our dear Saviour is the "Seed" of the woman with capital letters, the term "seed" is also used in Scripture to describe the saved people of God. Consider the following passages:

Genesis 9:9  And I, behold, I establish My Covenant with you (Abraham), and with your seed after you."

Genesis 12:7  And Yahweh appeared unto Abram (whom Yahweh later renamed as Abraham), and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto Yahweh, who appeared unto him.

Genesis 13:16  "And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered."

Genesis 15:3 & 5  "And Abram said, Behold, to me Thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir... And He brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and He said unto him, So shall thy seed be."

Genesis 17:7  "And I will establish My Covenant between Me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an Everlasting Covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee."

The saved people of Yahweh are Scripturally known as "the seed of Abraham". Only those who are "the seed of Abraham" are ultimately saved. "Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made..." (Galatians 3:16). 

Galatians 3:29 - "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the Promise."

The term "Abraham's seed" applies to every saved person, no matter their ethnic heritage. Another way to refer to "Abraham's seed" is to call them "Israel". This is because Abraham was the father of Isaac, who fathered Jacob, who was renamed as Israel and then fathered twelve sons, who became the twelve tribes of Israel.

But in Scripture, you weren't exclusively considered to be a part of Israel (Abraham's seed) only if you carried Abraham's DNA in your veins. The mixed multitude who left Egypt with the literal descendants of Jacob was joined with the literal seed of Jacob (Abraham's grandson) and were thereafter all known as "Israel". And Ruth (a Moabitess) was grafted in to Israel and claimed so completely that king David came to reign upon the throne - having full rights to do so - although he was one of her descendants.

The Kingdom of Heaven has - at its heart - the beautiful City of Zion, also called the New Jerusalem. This incredible City has twelve gates, one for each tribe. Only those of Israel, the seed of Abraham, can enter there. Yet every saved person (those who enter into the Covenant and keep the Commandments of Yahweh) will be able to enter into the City, and will have the right to eat from the Tree of Life, regardless of their literal ethnic heritage. 

Revelation 22:14  "Blessed are they that do His Commandments, that they may have right to the Tree of Life, and may enter in through the gates into the city."

What then, does the Bible mean when it refers to the "seed of Abraham" mingling with the world (the seed of the serpent)?

Ezra 9:2  "For they (Israel) have taken of their daughters (daughters from the pagan nations) for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass."

Ezra, at first, appears to be referring to the polluting of the holy bloodline. It seems that by the literal descendants of Abraham intermarrying with the Gentile nations, the bloodline was being polluted. But, actually the message is deeper than that. Israel wasn't diluted by the mixed multitude swelling their ranks. Nor was David's ability to reign on the throne in any way lessened by having a Moabite grandmother. 

Yahweh's warning and message through the prophet Ezra was about a spiritual claim. Had Israel taken Gentile daughters to marry who were converted to worshiping Yahweh, they would have been as much a part of Israel as was Ruth! The reason Ezra said that the holy seed was mingled with the people of the land in a spiritual trespass, was that God's people had intermarried with pagans! It was an evil mingling of the seed of the saved with the serpent's seed - those who have not chosen Life, but are the children of Eternal Death.

Genetic Gentiles may be grafted in as fully a part of the seed of Abraham based upon their choice to honor and worship Yahweh. Conversely, the literal (DNA) descendants of Abraham may be rejected - not a part of the seed of Abraham, based upon their choice to reject Yahweh and His Covenant. The literal Jewish leaders who wished to murder Yahshua were not part of Abraham's seed in Heaven's Eyes. Yahshua told them plainly that they were really the seed of the serpent - even though they had Jewish DNA, being the literal "seed of Abraham"!

John 8:37-44 "(Yahshua is speaking here) I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill Me, because My Word hath no place in you.  

I speak that which I have seen with My Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father (the devil). 

They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father.  

Yahshua saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.  

But now ye seek to kill Me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.  

Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.  

Yahshua said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love Me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but He sent Me. Why do ye not understand My Speech? even because ye cannot hear My Word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do..." 

Yes, just as Yahweh has a saved people - the seed of Abraham - a group which is about a spiritual claim and heritage - so also does the serpent have seed...  Sadly, this group are those who have rejected Yahshua and the Covenant of Yahweh. 

Only the seed of Abraham are inheritors of Eternal Life. The seed of serpent are of their father the devil. And their rightful inheritance is Eternal Death. This is the warning message of the NGC 6231 Cluster, anciently known as "the seed of the serpent". 

Whose seed are you? The choice is yours...

Deuteronomy 30:19  "I call Heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you Life and Death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose Life, that both thou and thy seed may live."
