Constellations in Hebrew Word Pictures - Part 2

Meaning of Bethulah (Virgo) in Hebrew Word Pictures

As Dr. Frank Seekins explains in his book Hebrew Word Pictures:
Ancient Hebrew letters are signs from Heaven. The story of the ancient pictures that proclaim Biblical truth in the Hebrew letters and words used by Abraham and Moses - and how these ancient pictures became the written characters used to write most of the worlds' languages today. (Hebrew Word Pictures, introduction)
Yesterday, I shared the meaning of Gedi (the goat-fish of Atonement), which is the fifth primary constellation. But I'd like to pause in our study of the constellations and retrace our steps a bit, as I hadn't thought about sharing the constellation names in paleo Hebrew before...  For this reason, I'd like to go back to the first primary constellation, Bethulah (the virgin), and show the meaning of this constellation name, from the ancient Hebrew Word Pictures.

Bethulah is spelled (reading from right to left):

Hey   Lamed   Vav   Tav  Bet

As I explained in yesterday's blog, the meaning of the Hebrew word is gained by adding the meanings of each individual letter.

Considering this, let's look at the full meaning of the Hebrew name for the constellation Bethulah, spelled BetTavVav, Lamed, Hey as shown above.

The Bet - the ancient Hebrew bet looks a tent with a path leading up to it. Remember that Bible patriarchs like Abraham lived in tents. This helps us remember the meaning of the Bet, which is "house". This letter symbolizes 1) a physical house or building, 2) a body (house), 3) a family, household, 4) inside, within.

The Tav - the ancient Hebrew tav looks like a Cross. It means "a sign" or "sign of the Covenant". This letter signifies 1) ownership, 2) to be finished, whole and complete, 3) to seal, 4) to make a Covenant, 5) a joining of two things together, 6) to make a sign.

The Vav - the ancient Hebrew vav looks like a tent stake or Bible-times nail. The picture of a wooden peg or nail can be seen in the ancient symbol for this letter. The vav symbolizes 1) a hook or nail, 2) joining together, 3) making secure, 4) becoming bound (nailed to).

The next letter of the word Bethulah
is the Lamed - the ancient Hebrew lamed looks like a shepherd's staff. This letter is 1) the rod, 2) to control, 3) to prod or urge forwards, 4) to go towards or forwards, 5) the tongue.

The final letter of the word Bethulah is the Hey- the ancient Hebrew hey looks like a stick man standing with his arms upraised towards Heaven. The hey means to 1) behold!, 2) to show, 3) reveal.

Combining the five Hebrew letters which spell Bethulah, we get the full Hebrew meaning of the virgin woman constellation who holds the Branch and sheaf of first fruits grain. It means that we may become part of the House of or Family of Yahweh (Bet) through the Cross and Blood of the Covenant (Tav). And we may become joined with Heaven (Vav) as we behold the nails in His Hands (Vav) - a revelation which prods us and urges us forwards (Lamed) into Family of God, the more we behold it (Hey).

Truly, the meaning of the name of Bethulah beautifully captures the fuller meaning of this first primary constellation.
