Two Nebulae in Dalah (Delphinus)

Dalah's (Delphinus) Deep Space Beauties

As we have already seen in this blog, Dalah, now called Delphinus, is the third decan of Gedi. Dalah refers to something “drawn out” of the water—such as a fish, that is drawn out by a fishing line. The Greeks changed the name of the constellation to Delphinus, which means “dolphin”. 

As we have already seen in our study of Gedi, fish represent converts to the Kingdom of God. So, in the three decans of Gedi we see the results of accepting Christ’s Atonement. The results of this choice include personal suffering, perhaps even persecution, but the arrows of God’s Truth will triumph over darkness. And there will be “fish’” (souls) saved through God’s “fishers of men”, which we are all called to become.

Psalm 30:1 “...I will extol thee, O Yahweh; for Thou hast lifted me up (Dalah), and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.”  

Numbers 24:7 “He shall pour the water out of His buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters...”   

The water-themed subject of this constellation is carried out in its deep-space objects as well. The beautiful constellation of Dalah is home to the globular clusters NGC 6934 and NGC 7006 and to the planetary nebulae NGC 6891 and NGC 6905, also know as the Blue Flash Nebula (see images below).
