Naphtali is the Tribe Associated with Gedi (the goat-fish of Atonement)
My featured star-family for the month of May is Gedi (Capricornus, the goat-fish), which is Star-family #5 of the 12 primary constellations and their decans. As I mentioned in my January 11, 2019 blog, "What is the Significance of the 12 Primary Constellations?", each of the 12 primary constellations is associated with one of the 12 tribes of Israel.
The tribe which is associated with the constellation Gedi (now called Capricornus) is Naphtali.
We will deepen our understanding of the Heavenly Message in this star-family by looking at the prophecies of Naphtali, given in the Scripture by both Jacob and Moses.
When Jacob was near the end of his life, he called his sons before him and spoke a prophetic word over them, which is found in Genesis chapter 49. His death-bed prophecies for his sons were not just prophetic words to the 12 tribes while his twelve sons were still alive, the prophecies were to have an ultimate fulfillment in the Last Days. We know this, because Jacob said so himself, in verse 1 of that chapter:
In Jacob's prophecy from Genesis 49, his prophetic word for Naphtali is found in Genesis 49:20:
This message is portrayed in the goat-fish of Gedi, which is Naphtali's constellation. God's people "prevail", in the most ultimate sense, by receiving the full blessing of Atonement. The prevailing we are called to do is with God - like Jacob, who "as a prince, prevails with God", becoming Israel. One of the sky-symbols of Israel (the saved, who are the spiritual Seed of Abraham) is that they are living "fish". Partaking of the Atoning Blood of Yahshua, we are transitioned into living fish.
This outcome and experience are captured eloquently in Ephesians 5:
Often times, we don't think of "Repentance" as "beautiful" or "good news". Repentance, helps us find forgiveness... And that's of value. But, we are missing the primary purpose of Atonement if we think it's primarily about forgiveness.
In Leviticus chapter 16, we find the details of the Day of Atonement. And, yes forgiveness and cleansing from sin is part of it. But, have you ever noticed that forgiveness and cleansing is listed at the very end of the chapter.
Let's go back to the beginning of Leviticus chapter 16, where the Atonement subject begins in this Torah segment:
In this beautiful order, found in Leviticus 16, we find that Atonement is first - and primarily - about connecting us with Yahweh. Its about entering into His Presence. And, in His Presence, we find Mercy, Cleansing, and Covering.

His death-bed prophecies for his sons were not just prophetic words to the 12 tribes while his twelve sons were still alive, the prophecies were to have an ultimate fulfillment in the Last Days. We know this, because Jacob said so himself, in verse 1 of that chapter:
Genesis 49:1 "And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the Last Days."So, as we find a message for our personal sanctification and spiritual growth in the 12 star-families of the Mazzaroth, that message is deepened by echoing it with the tribal prophecies of Jacob, which are meant for Israel in the Last Days - Scripturally called the "Seed of Abraham" (for Abraham begat Isaac and Isaac begat Jacob and Jacob begat 12 sons who formed the 12 tribes of Israel).
In Jacob's prophecy from Genesis 49, his prophetic word for Naphtali is found in Genesis 49:20:
Genesis 49:21 "Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words."To understand this prophecy, let's begin by looking at the meaning of Naphtali's name. "Naphtali" means to "wrestle and prevail", as we find in Strong's Concordance # H5321. When Rachel's handmaid gave birth to Naphtali, Rachel proclaimed a prophetic utterance over him. It's found in Genesis 30:8:
"And Rachel said, With great wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister, and I have prevailed: and she called his name Naphtali."This was indeed a prophecy. For the saved people of Yahweh are to pass through great "wrestlings", like Jacob who wrestled with the angel of Yahweh. But we are not only to experience the wrestlings of Jacob, pleading with Yahweh for His blessing, we are also to share in his conclusion: prevailing. Jacob was renamed Israel which means, "as a prince, he prevails with God."
Ephesians 5:27 "That He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish."Now, let's look at Jacob's prophecy of Naphtali from Genesis 49. We read it above, but this time, I will add in the meanings of the key words which are found in the Strong's Concordance. These meanings are in parenthesis in the following verse:
Genesis 49:21 "Naphtali is a hind (a "doe", a "female deer") let loose ("sent forth" to "sow", "spread"): he giveth ("delivers, restores") goodly ("beautiful") words."The prophecy of Jacob over Naphtali shows that the people of God are not only to personally experience the Atonement, becoming At-One with Heaven. They are also to become ambassadors of the Kingdom, who spread the good news of Salvation and Repentance.
Leviticus 16:30 - "For on that Day shall the priest make an Atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before Yahweh."If the personal experience of Atonement is primarily forgiveness and cleansing from sin, why isn't this listed first? In fact, in Hebrew writing structure, the primary concept is listed first - or at the head - of a section of the Torah. So, what is at the head of this Atonement section of the Torah, if it isn't forgiveness and cleansing?
Let's go back to the beginning of Leviticus chapter 16, where the Atonement subject begins in this Torah segment:
Leviticus 16:1-2 "And Yahweh spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before Yahweh, and died; And Yahweh said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the Mercy Seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the Mercy Seat."Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron had just died, having been struck down upon entering the Presence of Yahweh in an improper way (with strange fire). And now Yahweh is giving instruction about how to enter into His Presence. And it is in the context of entering into His Presence that we discover the steps of Atonement.
In this beautiful order, found in Leviticus 16, we find that Atonement is first - and primarily - about connecting us with Yahweh. Its about entering into His Presence. And, in His Presence, we find Mercy, Cleansing, and Covering.
