Continuing our blessing counting as we examine more of the conditions on other planets, today I will tell you of the conditions of Corot-7B. Corot-7B is an exoplanet (which means it orbits a star that is not our Sun, outside of our solar-system) which orbits the star (sun) Corot. In the image below, you can see Corot-7B (the black dot) as it makes its transit across its sun, Corot.
Corot and its exoplanet Corot-7B are sighted in the night sky between the constellations Canis Minor (the small dog constellation) and Lepus (the hare constellation).
In 2007, the French-built COROT (the T is silent - its a French thing) space telescope discovered the exoplanet which we now call Corot-7B. At the time, it was the most Earth-like exoplanet ever discovered. Just as an interesting side-note, exoplanets are often named after the telescope that was used to discover them.
The discovery of Corot-7B was officially announced on February 3, 2009 during the COROT Symposium 2009 in Paris, France. Corot-7B was an especially exciting discovery as it was a planet with a surface you could walk on!

Well, Corot-7B is orbiting too close to its star ("sun"), Corot. This close orbit causes the planet to be unable to turn, being tidally locked by the strong gravitational pull of Corot. On the side of Corot-7B which always faces its "sun" it would be perpetually daytime and super hot - hot enough to vaporize rock! Yes, in case you didn't catch that, I did say vaporize! So, on Corot-7B, the rock doesn't just melt, it vaporizes, going up into the planet's atmosphere.
Then, on the night side of the planet, where the temperature is much colder, all that vaporized rock would condense to form "mineral clouds" - and rocks would fall like rain - or perhaps hail is a more appropriate analogy. Anyway, if you are going to go for a walk on Corot-7B, you're going to need much more than an umbrella to deal with the weather. Aren't you glad you live where an umbrella is usually enough? Are you loving God's Star Messages? Now you can go deeper with God's Amazing Star Secrets!
