Sky Event #13

2nd New Moon Sighting (Eve) - and the Second Passover
Tonight is the first sighting of the crescent moon, following the conjunction. This means that tonight is the Biblical New Moon Eve and tomorrow is the day of the New Moon. This will be the second New Moon of the Biblical year, counting from the Spring Tekufah, of March 17, 2019.

For more information about Biblical New Moon Eves and Days, see my blog from March 7, 2019.

As I have already explained (see link above along with the sub-links found in the March 7 blog), the first New Moon of the Biblical year, is the one which follows the Spring Tekufah - the day on which days and nights are equal in the place of the calendar's origins - the general vicinity of Eden, which generally is located by the rivers which once flowed out of Eden.

Genesis 2:10-14, lists four rivers associated with the Garden of Eden: Pishon, Gihon, Hidekel (the Tigris), and Euphrates. Knowing the location of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers helps us identify the general location of Eden - by region - thereby giving us the correct global latitude for calculating the day of the Tekufah. This is important, since the day on which day and night are both 12 hours long varies by global latitude. But, in the region where the calendar began, the Tekufah is March 17.

From this point, one needs to watch for the next New Moon Eve, which is the beginning of the New Biblical year. We know this because Exodus 12:2 tells us which New Moon to use.

Exodus 12:2 “This month (New Moon) shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month (New Moon) of the year to you.”

In this passage, the KJV Bible translates "New Moon" as "month", but the primary meaning of the original Hebrew word is "New Moon", as you can see from the screenshot of the verse in E-sword, shown below. For this reason, I've added back the more correct translation in parenthesis (above).

With that reminder and background, let's turn to the subject of the Second Passover. According to Leviticus 23:5-8, Passover is on the fourteenth day of the first Biblical month. This means that - this year - Passover was on April 20, 2019. The following table shows how to calculate Passover:

So, Passover is the 14th day of the first Biblical month. And the Feast of Unleavened Bread (according to Leviticus 23:6-8) immediately follows it, beginning on the fifteenth day of the first month (Abib) and continuing for seven days (which means it ends on the 21st day of the first Biblical month).

Since Passover is the fourteenth day of the first Biblical month, why am I talking about a second Passover? Actually, because Passover is so important, Yahweh didn't want His people to miss it. As a result - for emergency situations - a provision was made for a Second Passover, which fell in the second Biblical month.
Numbers 9:5-11  "And they kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month at even in the wilderness of Sinai: according to all that Yahweh commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel. And there were certain men, who were defiled by the dead body of a man, that they could not keep the Passover on that day: and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day: And those men said unto him, We are defiled by the dead body of a man: wherefore are we kept back, that we may not offer an offering of Yahweh in His appointed season among the children of Israel? And Moses said unto them, Stand still, and I will hear what Yahweh will command concerning you. And Yahweh spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any man of you or of your posterity shall be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be in a journey afar off, yet he shall keep the Passover unto YahwehThe fourteenth day of the second month at even they shall keep it, and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs."
Notice that the Second Passover was not something one did simply because they were too busy for the first one. Rather, the Second Passover was provided for emergencies. If a person had a death in the family and could not keep the first Passover because they were spiritually "unclean" after having been in contact with a dead body, they could keep Passover in the Second month.

The other reason was similarly dire. If a person was "on a journey" they could have Passover in the Second month. This doesn't mean that one could miss Passover because of scheduling a vacation to Tahiti. Passover was not to be missed. This is the message of the Second Passover provision. God's people were to do all they could to make sure that they scheduled the time to keep the first Passover. However, if, while on a trip, one became unavoidable delayed due to shipwreck or some other unforeseeable emergency - and by virtue of the unforeseen problem, one could not get back in time to keep the first Passover, there was a Second Passover provision.

As we are starting the second Biblical month this evening, with the sighting of the New Moon crescent at sunset, the time for the Second Passover is soon coming. Where you unable to keep the first Passover? If so, Yahweh in His mercy is providing a second opportunity. He so wants His people to have the blessing of being Passed Over under His Blood and Wings, that we have a second time option, when the need arises. For those who need it, May 19, 2019 is the day of the Second Passover.

Isn't Yahweh good?
