The 25 Brightest Stars in the Sky - part 4

Arcturus - He Cometh!

Returning to my sub-series highlighting the 25 brightest stars in the night sky, the fourth brightest star is Arcturus, which means "He Cometh!" As you might suspect, this star bears the promise that Yahshua will Return!

ARCTURUS: Hebrew name: Ayish (Strong's Concordance number H5906), meaning "He Cometh" and "to hasten" (a Promise of Yahshua's First and Second Coming).

Where this star name is found in Scripture:
Job 9:9  "Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south."
Because I have already written about Bo in this blog, I will simply provide a link back to that blog page from January 13, 2019  You may also find information about the Bo constellation in my book, God's Amazing Star Secret).

Here are are few fun facts about Arcturus:

1) Arcturus is a red giant star (see photo above) which is sightable in the Northern Hemisphere's sky. It is the brightest star in the constellation Bo (Bootes).

2) The light of Arcturus is so bright that the star war used to help open the Chicago World's Fair in 1933.

3) Arcturus is best viewed (in the Northern Hemisphere) in the Spring. To sight it, follow the curve of the "handle" of the "Big Dipper". The saying goes, "Arc to Arcturus and then speed on to Spica". Spica is the brightest star in Bethulah (Virgo). See the drawing below:

4) Arcturus is about 110 times brighter than our Sun in visible light wavelengths. But it is actually even more than that... it's just that we can't see it, because much of the light it gives off is in the infrared. Counting visible and invisible (infrared) light power which is given off by this star, it is 180 times more than our Sun.

5) To comprehend the size of Arcturus, consider the following diagram which compares its size with other giant stars:

Pollux is the 17th brightest star, Arcturus (shown second from the left in the picture above) is the 4th brightest star, Aldebaran is the 14th brightest star, and Rigel is the 7th brightest star.
