Tribe of the Month

Simeon is the Tribe Associated with Dagim (the two Fishes)

My featured star-family for the month of July is Dagim (Pisces, the two fishes), which is Star-family #7 of the 12 primary constellations and their decans. As I mentioned in my January 11, 2019 blog, "What is the Significance of the 12 Primary Constellations?", each of the 12 primary constellations is associated with one of the 12 tribes of Israel.

The tribe which is associated with the constellation Dagim (now called Pisces) is Simeon.
We will deepen our understanding of the Heavenly Message in this star-family by looking at the prophecies of Simeon, given in the Scripture by both Jacob and Moses.

When Jacob was near the end of his life, he called his sons before him and spoke a prophetic word over them, which is found in Genesis chapter 49. His death-bed prophecies for his sons were not just prophetic words to the 12 tribes while his twelve sons were still alive, the prophecies were to have an ultimate fulfillment in the Last Days. We know this, because Jacob said so himself, in verse 1 of that chapter:
Genesis 49:1  "And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the Last Days."
So, as we find a message for our personal sanctification and spiritual growth in the 12 star-families of the Mazzaroth, that message is deepened by echoing it with the tribal prophecies of Jacob, which are meant for Israel in the Last Days - Scripturally called the "Seed of Abraham" (for Abraham begat Isaac and Isaac begat Jacob and Jacob begat 12 sons who formed the 12 tribes of Israel).

In Jacob's prophecy from Genesis 49, his prophetic word for Simeon is found in Genesis 49:5:
Genesis 49:5-7 "Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations. O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their self-will they digged down a wall. Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel."
To understand this prophecy, let's begin by looking at the meaning of Simeon's name. "Simeon" means to "hearing", as we find in Strong's Concordance # H8095. It is from the Hebrew root word, Shema, which is the name for the heart of the Torah (Deuteronomy 6:4-9) that is put upon the doorposts of the house and which means "hear intelligently, understand, obey, publish, witness".

In the English translation of the Genesis 49:5-7 prophecy of Simeon (and Levi) it all sounds very negative. But many Hebrew words have both positive and negative connotations. Determining which meaning should be used is largely done by context. In the case of Genesis 49, the context is Jacob's deathbed blessing and prophecy over his sons and over the tribes of Israel (who are saved). Thus, we should look for the deeper, positive meanings in this strange prophecy for Simeon and its tribe in the Last Days.

The reference, in Genesis 49:5-7, about "instruments" of "cruelty" being in Simeon's "habitations" can also be translated as "his sword is a(n) (effective) weapon which does (great) damage". The Sword which defends Israel is the Word of Yahweh, also known as the Sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17).

When we truly "shema" (which is the root word and meaning of Simeon's name), we hear, understand, and obey the Word of Yahweh. In so doing, His Word truly is an effective weapon which is wielded by the saints to do great damage against the forces of darkness. Thus, the sword is the emblem of this tribe. Truly Simeon's prophecy is one of strength and victory in Yahweh.
Hebrews 4:12  "For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
Psalm 149:5-6 "Let the saints be joyful in glory... Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand."
Notably, in both Jacob's and Moses' prophecies of Simeon is joined with Levi. They two received the same prophecy as a united brotherhood.
Genesis 49:5  "Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations..."
In this constellation of Dagim and its decans, the sky picture also portrays two fishes, joined together by a band which unites their tails.

Notably also, Moses' prophecy of Levi (who was prophetically joined to Simeon) is a calling to all of Yahweh's people - both companies of "fish" in represented in this constellation. We are all called to serve Yahweh as His priests, after the higher order of Melchizedek (which existed before the Levitical priesthood):
Revelation 5:10 "And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth."
In prophetic message, Levi, the priests, was joined with Simeon, the ones who "hear" the Word of Yahweh and obey. And in accepting the calling and meaning of both, we find the key to being among the victorious "fish" (Dagim) who are saved in the Last Days.
Deuteronomy 33:8-10  "And of Levi he said, Let thy Thummim and thy Urim be with thy holy One... for they have observed Thy Word, and kept Thy Covenant. They shall teach Jacob Thy judgments, and Israel Thy Law..."
This truly is the calling of all the people of Yahweh. In fact, it is the essence of the final Elijah Message. Thus the connection of these tribal blessings with the constellation of Dagim is clear, found in the final Elijah Message of Malachi 4:4-6:
"Remember ye the Law of Moses My servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the Statutes and Judgments. Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful Day of Yahweh: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest (before) I come and smite the earth with a curse."

  1. It seems as if so much refers to the 'last days'.
What a time to be alive!

    1. Yes... It seems everything was all about this time... for such a time as this. And the fact that Yahweh chose for us to be alive now, means that He has a purpose for us - like Esther - in this time. May we be faithful to His purpose.
