As I highlight the brightest stars in the sky, are you noticing a trend? The brightest stars in the sky give the highlights of the Plan of Redemption - they outline the bone structure of the key message of Scripture. Of these, the fifth brightest star is Vega (pronounced Vee-ga), which means "He shall be exalted".
Vega: Hebrew name: Room (Strong's Concordance number H5906), meaning "to exalt" and "to promote" (a Prophecy showing that Yahshua will be exalted at last!)
Where this star name is found in Scripture:
Psalm 18:46 "Yahweh liveth; and blessed be my Rock; and let the God of my Salvation be exalted."
Vega is the brightest star in the harp constellation anciently known as Kinnor, now called Lyra. Because I have already written about Kinnor in this blog, I will simply provide a link back to that blog page from April 2, 2019. You may also find information about the Kinnor constellation in my book, God's Amazing Star Secret).
Here are are few fun facts about Vega:
1) Vega is close to us. It is only 25 light years from our Sun and is the second brightest star in the Northern Hemisphere (but the 5th brightest star in the whole sky).
2) Because the Earth's axis wobbles, our pole star slowly changes. If our current axis wobble persists, it is estimated than in about 10,000 years Vega will be our pole star, replacing the North Star.
3) Vega is a bluish-white star that is 2.1 times more massive than our Sun, with a radius of around 1.1 million miles (1.8 million km).
4) It is rotating quickly at a velocity of 147 miles/s (236 km/s) at its equator. This is an extremely quick rotation. By comparison, Vega rotates once every 12 and a half hours compared to the 28 days it takes our Sun to rotate on its axis.
5) This rapid oscillation causes Vega to bulge outward (due to centrifugal effects) at the equator. And this bulge also causes a fluctuation in surface temperature, which reaches a max at Vega's poles.
