The Summer Sky - Part 2

Viewing the Planets

This summer many of the planets will be viewable in the skies of the northern hemisphere. The following is how and when to sight these planets:

During the months of June and July the planet Mercury (anciently called Kokah in Hebrew) is viewable from sunset to about 10:30 PM. Where do you look? Mercury will be in the sunset. In Biblical times, planets were known as "wandering stars" because they moved about the starry field. Kokah means "star" and is a reference to Yahshua and to His followers. As it says in Daniel 12:11, "they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament and they that turn others to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever."

Venus, called Nogah in Hebrew, will rise in the
east during June at about 4:30 AM for a short morning view. In July, Venus will be a little easier to see because it will rise at 5 AM. Nogah means "brightness" and "bright morning star" and is a reference to Yahshua.

Mars will set at about 10:30 PM in June and at 9:45 PM in July. Mars Biblical name is Ma'adim (Hebrew) meaning "bloody". It is a planet which often indicates war and strife, when used in prophetic signs in the heavens.

Jupiter, which was known as Tsedek (Hebrew
meaning "He Who Judges in Righteousness"), will be visible after 8 PM in June and 9:45 PM in July. Tsedek is a beautiful reminder of the righteousness of Yahweh.

And Saturn, the Sabbath planet will rise about 10:20 PM in June. In July and August it will rise around sunset and stay up most of the night.

So, be sure to get out and look up. The weather is beautiful with the warmth of summer and that makes sky-viewing all the more ideal. Enjoy!
