Amazing Galaxies: the Whirlpool

Science has discovered that our Universe is massive and incredible in beauty. The Universe contains about two trillion galaxies - each with about 100 billion stars! Some galaxies are spiral-shaped like our own Milky Way galaxy. Some are irregular or elliptical in shape. But all of them have gravitational interactions between stars, planets, dust, and gas, which bind them together. 

As Utsav noted in his Earth & World online article, "The Top Ten Most Amazing Galaxies":

"one thing is common in all galaxies they all look like art beautifully designed by some supernatural power."

Indeed, these incredible galaxies were made by the Supernatural Power of Almighty Yahweh!

Psalms 33:6  "By the Word of Yahweh were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth." 

One of the most amazing galaxies in God's vast Universe is known as the Whirlpool Galaxy, also known as Messier 51a, M51a, or NGC 5194. It is a beautiful spiral galaxy located 23 million light years from Earth.

This gorgeous galaxy and its companion galaxy known as NGC 5195 can easily be seen with only a good pair of binoculars. You can get a resolved view of it with a lower-power telescope. To sight it, follow the easternmost star of the Big Dipper (now known as Ursae Majoris) and look 3.5° southwest.

The Whirlpool Galaxy has a design known as the Grand Design. As an interesting side note, I find it notable that even evolutionary astronomers call it a grand "DESIGN".  Yes, and a grand "design" it is! - made by the Master Designer.
